If you didn't know she was a faggot, you know now!

We all know where we were Thursday 21 July 1983. We were glued to the TV all set to watch Diana. She was giving a concert in Central Park.

The show started off great, great entrance. Then it happened, the wind started up and then it began to rain. Trouper that she is, she kept on performing. Then it got really bad and she had to stop but not before promising to return the next day.

Then Friday came and we were all drinking and ready for the show of a lifetime. Diana did not let us down as usual. She opened with I'm Coming Out and she ran from her trailer and up the steps to the stage and she just wowed us.

Miss Ross was Supreme. She gave a great concert and it went on for a while. But it was too short for us fans. I had a blast watching the concert. I splurged when I saw it on Amazon. I'm lucky to have it and will watch it periodically. I also was able to get her concert from Caesar's Palace which is another great concert. I remember I used to have it on laser disc way back when.

Should I even mention that I've seen her in concert? And she does not disappoint. I would love to see her again...maybe one day.

VIA Sucks!!!

Got my passport out and headed out to the barrio the other day. I had to go to the clinic pharmacy to pick up a script. It's a hassle but it's free.

I left here at 8,30 and ventured out. I had to take to buses to get there. Lots of waiting. The bright side is that I schlepped out in the morning before it gets hot.

I had to run another errand and I had to take three buses to get there. More waiting. Since I was out, I had lunch at a Chinese buffet. The embarrassing thing was that I was walking back to my table and my shorts started to fall down. Thank gawd I had showered that morning. I managed to hold on to my tray and lift my shorts up at the same time. Very talented.

Then I took the bus home and was exhausted by the time I got home. I got home at 2,15. That's almost six hours out of my day. Granted I don't do anything, it's the principle. I came home, took another shower and lay down. I didn't sleep, I just rested.

VIA sucks big time. Had I a car, I would have done my running around in an hour. I hope they fix VIA sometime soon.

Busy Friday

I'm tired. I had a busy day. I started off by going to the clinic to get refills on some psych meds. They've been saying they're now taking my insurance. I've been talking to the insurance and they don't have the clinic in network. Well today they called the insurance and were on the phone about 30 minutes. They still couldn't find the clinic and Maria said they do take the insurance but they don't have the address. They're working on it.

Then I went downstairs for breakfast. I hadn't had chilaquiles is quite a while so I was sated. Then it was off to the library.

Then out of the blue I decided to go to Academy to buy some trunks. I need to start getting in shape. It's so difficult to find trunks without a print. I want a simple colored pair. I found a pair and now I have to get on the ball about swimming. Supposedly I can swim for free with a doctor's note which I have. We'll see.

Then I came home and crashed. I didn't nap, I just lay in bed catching my breath. I was tired.

Evita

Went to see Evita with Mike and Tony the other night. We went to Mexican Manhattan for dinner. Afterwards we bumped into Mark Cuban schlepping downtown. He's just as handsome in person as he is in the Time Warner commercials.

Then off to the Majestic for a great musical. Of course we did a lot of people watching and critiquing. You know how girls can get catty.

We all agreed that the musical was a whole lot better than the movie. Duh.

Quiet Week

I've not been having anything to blog lately. Just had another quiet week. Nothing out of the ordinary.

I did go out to breakfast with Mike yesterday. Sometimes we just need time alone. We had a fun time as usual. We got to cruise some hot guys. Funny how club people go to Jim's after a hard night of clubbing.

At least I think these are club people. Who else is gonna be with a hot stud for breakfast? I ain't dumb. It makes for a good story.

Today Victoria had a Fiesta party. I baked some cookies that were devoured greedily. I went over for an hour or so. I just felt so out of place. I just ate and ran.

Nothing else.

Easter

Are you sitting down? I went to Easter service with Mike and Tony. Hard to believe the church didn't burn down and there was no lightening. It was overcast though.

We went to Metropolitan Community Church. That's a gay church. Everyone was very friendly and shook my hand and made me feel welcome.

The service was different than the Catholic services I'm used to. They did do communion which I did not participate in. There was a lot of singing and hand waving. It was interesting.

The best part of it was that we went to lunch afterward. Hey, if I don't have to cook, it's great. We went to EZ's and had burgers and pizza. The plus is they serve Pepsi, you know me and Pepsi. It just tastes a whole lot better than other colas.

Leticia

Went to lunch with Leticia Thursday. We haven't seen each other in two years. She used to work downtown so we were able to see each other frequently. But her work relocated to the Pearl Brewery and we kind of lost track of each other.

We went to pick up her fiancé. Just found out she's getting married. Friday of all days. Mike is a good guy. They seem well suited for each other. I'm glad for her. We had a great lunch at Luther's. We visited and laughed.

She was getting married Friday and I forgot all about it. Some friend I turned out to be. I had hoped to be the flower girl. LOL. I could just see me drizzling petals down the aisle! Good for her.

I Hate VIA!!!

For those that don't know, VIA is the transit system here in San Antonio. The nuns used to say not to use the word hate because it is too strong. Well, I abhor, detest, and loathe VIA.

They recently introduced an electronic bus fare program. You swipe the card and it's good for 31 days. Sounds easy. One would think.

People swipe and swipe and the thing says 'Card not Valid.' No matter how many times we swipe we get that obnoxious announcement. It slows down everybody. We that are on the bus already are frustrated at this. The people getting on get frustrated. We look forward to the ding that allows us to get on board.

The other way to get on is to insert the card the first time you use it and it's good for the 31 days. When we swipe and it doesn't go through, we can insert the card and it will let us on. Most often than not, the bus driver gets frustrated also and snatches the card from us and inserts it.

Also, for paying riders, they have to pay and this slows the bus down also. It sometimes takes a few tries for it to accept dollar bills and the person and the bus driver both get frustrated.

When one gets on with a half-off ID, one shows the ID and swipes the bus pass. Again, one gets that obnoxious message, 'Card Not Valid.' When it finally registers, we get the message to 'Please Show ID.' Again, frustrating.

They need to figure out a better way to do this. In the old days I just showed my bus pass and got on. Now I have to swipe and show my ID. When we go shopping, we have to balance our shopping to get on board.

Family Luncheon

Debra's birthday was Thursday. Of course I called her up to wish her a fabulous birthday. I also invited everyone out for lunch in her honor.

Debra and Larry, Barbara, Jerry, Matthew, and Lauren went. My immediate family. I also invited Oscar, Larry's father. We had a great time. We went for Chinese buffet. I had some Chinese food, but they also had some pot roast and I went for it. The smashed taters were good and I also tried the ribs and they were succulent not the usual tough ribs.

I also had some tres leches cake that was out of this world. Usually the desserts at the buffets are tasteless and frozen but this was not. A girl can tell.

We took some photos as well and I can't believe how ugly I look. I had no idea. Honey, I'm not gonna be in a relationship any time soon.

I usually detox after a relationship. Usually it's a five year stretch with no action. This time around I'm going on ten years. I don't think I remember how to get things started again. Mike says it's like riding a bike, thing is I never learned to ride one.

Oh well, I've come this far. I don't need anyone anyway. I have Jean-Luc and my family. I did forget to include Mike. He's like a brother I never had. Okay I have a brother, but he's not much of a brother. He's never talked to me. His loss.

Ladies Who Lunch

Went to lunch with Mike and Tony. We went to a semi-usual hangout, Luther's. It's a nice family restaurant in the gay neighborhood. We had our usual ditzy waiter Javier who always makes us feel welcome.

I had the brisket sandwich and it was scrumptious. There was a lot of brisket and Tony made the comment that that was a lot of meat for that bun. I forgot what they had because I'm still savoring my meal.

We also had dessert. Anyone who knows me knows that I'm not much of a dessert person. Okay, I bake, but I prefer to share the goodies. I had something called Heavenly Chocolate and it was!
Chocolate cake with chocolate liquor and two scoops of Bluebell ice cream. It was orgasmic and I highly recommend this.

It's always nice to go out with the boys. I can feel the love at the table. And I am truly blessed to have them in my life. Here's to many more fun times.

Quiet Week

Nothing much going on this week. I have been having tummy trouble and am munching on Tums and Maalox. I've mostly stayed home this week.

Mike and I went to breakfast today. There were some cute guys sitting across from us and he got the full view. I did an Exorcist turn and saw the guy Mike pointed out. He was a hottie with a fabulous schnozz. There was also one that looked like Dan Radcliffe. Mike said he thought of them having a three-way. I'd love to see that.

Then we went to the store. Mike is a sweetie as ya'll know. He lives in the Medical Center and comes all the way downtown to take me shopping. I think he worries a bit about me. Had an uneventful time at the store. No hot guys. Too bad.

How I Met Your Mother

OMG! The series ended. And it was a shocker. After years of telling the story of how Ted met the mother of his kids, they finally meet and live happily ever after...for a while.

Tracy dies! After all that. They had the perfect relationship. And then they kill her off! The kids tell Ted that he should date Robin and the show ends with him going to her apartment.

All in all, I was pleased with the outcome. It is sad to see them go, but it had to end. Now I have nothing to watch on Monday nights.

Quiet Weekend

Nothing much went on this weekend. I did do lunch with Mike Saturday. We went to The Mexican Manhattan for Tex-Mex food. Then we came home and he put together my new entertainment center.

I bought one last week and I tried to put it together but I could only do so much because of my right shoulder. I woke up in pain one morning months ago and it's still tender. I bless my lucking stars for a great friend like Mike. Eddie used to say I was blessed with Mike. Good karma follows me around.

Birthday Girl

Happy 70th Birthday to Ms Ross. I've seen her twice and she rocks. Of course I always think of Trevor, a coming of age story that I highly recommend. This means I will be listening to her CDs all day long.

Chest Pains

Wednesday in yoga class I felt a sharp pain in my chest. It was very painful. I didn't feel better all week. Sunday it just felt worse so  I decided to go to the hospital.

I was in the ER for five hours. They did an EKG and my heart was normal but they wanted to run some tests. Yesterday I took several MRIs. Today the cardiologist said everything was okay. So what was the pain?

It did help that they gave me morphine. That got rid of my pain but they wanted to keep me in observation. Whatever it was disappeared. Maybe I needed attention.

Anyhooooooo, it's nice to be home. I left a mixing bowlful of food for Jean-Luc. I also gave him some fresh water. I just walked in the door and JL had eaten everything. It's nice to be needed.

Saturday

What a wasted day. I woke up with my knee swollen and a case of diarrhea, so that meant no yoga for today. I felt cheated. I really like going to class  even though I can't perform like I'd like.

The rest of the day was a blur. I tried to nap, I really need to sleep, but I couldn't. I was just a schlub all day. No energy whatsoever.

I did catch up on some DVDs. If you haven't seen it, there's a campy movie called Die Mommie Die. Charles Busch is Angela a once popular chanteuse who lives with her husband and two adult children.

When the husband dies, all fingers point to Angela. It's up to the kids to figure out the mystery. Not an award winning film, but hysterical nonetheless.

Then I watched Breaking Dawn Part 2. The continuing saga of Bella and Edward. You just have to root for these two. She decides to become a vampire also and marries Edward, the love of her life. Just about as good as the books.

Yoga

I was a bad boy yesterday. I skipped class because I was in a lot of pain. My muscles were aching and I could feel my body stretched out of proportion. Like I said, I was energized and exhausted at the same time. I stayed home and took some Tylenol and took it easy looking forward to a night out with the boys.

Today I woke up and didn't feel like going. I stayed in and did nothing and tried to recuperate. Then I remembered there's an evening class I can go to. So off I went.

Class was fun and I had great difficulty doing the postures. There were more men in this class and they were all shirtless. I felt out of place. I'm not about to show this pathetic body to anyone.

People are very supportive and we high fived each other after class. I must say the men are very friendly. I did get cruised by a couple of guys, and they were hot. Okay I'm not there for the men, I'm there for me. I just go and do my business and that's it.

But it'd be nice....

Wicked

Went to go see Wicked again. Awesome. Mike and I saw it two years ago but Tony hadn't seen it, so there we went. I swear I saw a different show this time around. I told Mike maybe it's because of the hearing aids.

Whatever, it was a night out and I haven't had one in a long time. It was nice being out in my hood at night I'm usually in bed mode around  9 or so. If you haven't seen it, go.

We had dinner at the Houston St Bistro and it was scrumptious. I'd been there before with Leticia so I readily recommended it. It was Tony's birthday so Mike wanted to go somewhere special. Tony and I had the chicken cordon bleu and Mike had the special that came with tiramisu which we all shared.

It was funny. I bumped into a neighbor and he did a double take. I'm usually in shorts and a polo shirt and tonight I was in Dockers and a nice button down shirt and dressy shoes. He couldn't believe it. I do have a flair for dressing up. And I love getting dressed and getting the attention. Guess I still got it.

Bikram Yoga

Well, I finally did it. I've been meaning to do this for some time but something always came up, bad weather, not feeling well. I went to yoga class today. I'm exhausted and invigorated at the same time.

Bikram Yoga is yoga with the heat turned on, literally. They have the studio on high and you feel it as soon as you walk in. I did the postures to the best of my ability. I do not have the flexibility I used to have when I did yoga before. It was downright hard.

I actually sweated. I normally don't sweat so this was a first for me. There were some postures where we had to hold on to our foot but I sweated so much it was just too difficult to do them. And my knee kept popping throughout the class.

My instructor is HOT! I couldn't help but notice he had his ear pierced several times. And then he came to class shirtless and the tiniest shorts I've ever seen on a man and I couldn't help but notice his box...delicious.

There were some other hot guys in class and most of them were just in shorts. I think I was the only one with a shirt on and it stuck to me like there's no tomorrow. There was this one hairy guy I couldn't take my eyes off. He was short and I noticed a wedding band, not that that's stopped me before.

Everybody was friendly and supportive. I actually made it through the entire class. They have a special for newbies, 10 sessions for $20. Not bad. I'll just have to buy a package that fits my budget. I really want to pursue this. Plus I just got a call from Humana saying that I can use the YMCA for free. They also have yoga classes available.

Yoga is spiritually and mentally good as well. I'm hoping to lose my paunch and regain some flexibility. I started out slow, but by the end of class I felt real comfortable.

Eddie

Eddie and I had plans for dinner yesterday. I called him up when dinner was ready and he didn't answer. So I ate by myself and saved some for him.

Still no answer today. Evelyn and Victoria were worried about him and they went by his place and he was talking through the door but was unable to answer the door for some reason.

Evelyn got worried and called 911. The firemen showed up and found Eddie dead on the floor. He must've just passed away. We don't know of any services planned yet. We have to wait to hear from his sister.

He wasn't in good health, he was in the hospital three times this winter. And he didn't take care of himself. He hated me to worry about his health.

Home

I love home. I've been here for seven years, that's the longest I've lived since leaving home. Home is comfy and everyone is welcome here. Here's a photo of my living room. I just needed Jean-Luc to make it homier.

My baby keeps me centered and entertained. I recently got an over the door mirror to check me out. I've lost so much weight and I want to make sure I look presentable when I go out.

Jean-Luc is fascinated with the mirror. He looks at himself and thinks there's another cat in the apartment. It's funny to see him standing looking at himself in the mirror.

He's been very needy lately. He jumps in my lap when I'm watching TV and takes a nap. Luckily sometimes I've just inserted a movie and don't mind him napping away. The problem is when I have to go to the bathroom and he's in the way. I just hold it until he stretches out and I can make a mad dash to the bathroom.

He loves to nap with me. He's always waiting in bed for me when it's time for beddy-bye. He waits on his side of the bed, he knows his side. In the middle of the night I turn around and he's snoring away.

I love my baby. We just celebrated our four-year anniversary this January. Hard to believe we've known each other for such a short time. I'm so grateful to Barbara for finding him on Craigslist.

Thai Lao Orchid

Went to lunch with my favourite niece and her sister. Barbara and Debra work downtown on Broadway St. Debra invited me to lunch and we went to Thai Lao Orchid restaurant down from the office. Isabel and Andrea went also.

The food was great and it was nice to spend time with my nieces. I also made an offer to see us for lunch with the family. I haven't seen them since my Mom's funeral. I hope we get to get together. I also need updated photos of us.

Dr's Visit

Went to the clinic yesterday for lab results. I'm still a healthy sick man. My t-cell count went down again, 113. I'm still undetectable. My liver and kidneys are okay, my glucose level is good, my blood pressure good...great visit.

Dr Martinez was happy with my hearing aids as well. I really like him because he knows my history.

Hearing Aid

I have always had trouble hearing. I finally did something about it and got hearing aids. It's weird to hear things again. I've already noticed I don't have to listen to the TV as loud as usual.

I have to get used to them. It's nice to be part of the hearing world again.

Cosas

Nothing much going on. I went to the Book Cellar yesterday. I gave myself a project. The Spanish section is a mess and I started to organize it.

Talked to Leticia last night. Haven't talked to her in some while. Haven't seen her in two years but she's still a friend and part of my support system. We might do lunch sometime this week. We shall see. I did pick on her about this.

Eddie's back. He got home last Sunday and he's been ignoring me for some reason. I did see him at Victoria's last Monday. He's a queer duck. His place is a pig sty and he's supposed to have it inspected by SAHA tomorrow. I should tell management to inspect his apartment as well. I really have debated saying something. He did snitch on me a while back. Karma...

Reading

I walked into the library the other day and I looked over at the books they have out. This cover caught my attention for obvious reasons. I read the jacket and checked it out. The story of a gay man who goes to NYC for work and sees the man of his dreams. Does this make me shallow? Don't answer that.

The point is I'm reading again. I just saw a film about French writer George Sand and now I want to read her stuff as well as her lover Alfred de Musset. My mind is expanding again.

UPDATE: Just finished the book and it was great. Not a Pulitzer Prize winner. I really enjoyed the characters and plotline. It is sad to say good-bye to these fabulous characters.

Centromed

Went to do labs the other day. I also visited with Jeanne. She was happy to hear I'm eating three meals if I'm hungry or not. I do forget to eat sometimes. I just eat because of the meds.

I also saw Lisa. I'm still deciding on her. I don't like the fact that she answers the phone when I'm in therapy. I'm still dealing with the adoption thing. I just can't get it out of my mind.

Now I wonder why I was given up and who she is. I do have to thank my birth parents for the good health I've enjoyed. I don't have diabetes or cancer. The only bad thing I have is AIDS. I still don't know how I was lucky to get that. I call it my Michigan souvenir.

Eddie

Eddie's back in the hospital again with pneumonia, again. He was hospitalized in November and December. Some people just never learn. And he's always getting on my case about taking care of myself.

Victoria thinks that a lot has to do with his cat Precious. She does shed a lot and has a lot of dander. He doesn't keep her litter box clean and we think that adds to his health problems. And you can smell the stench as soon as you get out of the elevator.

But he won't listen to anyone when it comes to Precious. What a faggot name. I suggested an intervention to Victoria but she says it wouldn't do much. What to do with Eddie?

Olympics

I'm watching the Olympics and enjoying the hot men with the hot scnozzes. Okay I do like the events. I'm looking forward to the men's figure skating and the ice dancing. There are other events that catch my attention.

I'm dealing with a bout of bronchitis at the moment. It's not fun. I'm on antibiotics and drinking lots of fluids. I know how to take care of myself contrary to what other people think.

Eddie's making a big deal about this. He diagnosed me and he's loving the attention. We were supposed to go to lunch with Victoria and Natalie and he refused to take me. He did bring me lunch though. I would have preferred to go and enjoy the company.

Nothing much going on. Just recuperating. I need more chicken soup. That's the fun thing about being sick.

Super Bowl

Hard to believe, but I actually watched the Super Bowl. Eddie invited his fat ass over. I slow cooked some ribs with a rub suggested by Mike. Then I roasted some potatoes with rosemary. The house smelled succulent. Eddie was very impressed and said it  was restaurant quality.

The game itself was exciting. I made the comment that Denver should give up after the first quarter. They did poorly. Of course everyone watches for the commercials. We didn't see any worthy ones in the first half. They were better in the second half and we decided that there were three memorable ones.

Bruno Mars was the halftime entertainment and he did put on quite a show. The Red Hot Chile Peppers were also good. We were impressed with the national anthem. It was sung by a soprano opera singer and she hit all the notes perfectly.

Little know fact, the national anthem is the music to a British drinking song! Eddie said that was appropriate for the country. LOL. We thought America The Beautiful was better when Queen Latifa sang it. I think that should be our national anthem hands down.

Volunteering

I just can't get it out of my system. My major career was in libraries, first as a student assistant and then moving on to circulation supervisor. In Michigan, I was in the order unit eventually winding up as a supervisor.

Well, I started volunteering at the public library. They have a book store in the basement and I was shelving to my hearts content. Somebody did ask me for help and I found what he was looking for. Something you never forget.

I did find some duplicates and showed them to the manager. She only wants one copy of the items on the shelves. I also labeled some books without call numbers. I had a blast. I'm looking forward to my next day.

I was exhausted afterward. Duh, I haven't done any work in over 9 years. I came home and took some Tylenol and laid down for a bit. Next time I'll take some before I go and wear my knee brace. I did leave with a limp. I love to push myself.

Breakfast

Went to Jim's for breakfast. We like it there because the food is safe and tasty. We had a cute new waiter and I think he's a friend of Dorothy's as well. I did find out that I can order off the senior plate! Mike just laughed.

I like to make up stories about people. So we're sitting there and two cute guys walked in. So I started by saying they were having after sex breakfast. And then Mike jumped in and said they met last night at the bars. And then we embellished some more.

I did give him a piece of my mind. He's working Sunday so he only had Saturday off. Like I said, people don't listen to me.

Went to HEB afterwards. I'm slow cooking some ribs and wanted a rub and some olive oil to marinate. I'm also making some potatoes with rosemary for added flavor. Yup, Eddie's coming over. Not rooting for Broncos or Seahawks, I'm a Steelers fan.

Mike Update

Mike got out of the hospital last Friday. Tony kept me up to date on him. He really stepped up to the plate.

Mike is already back at work! He does sit on his fat ass all day, but I still worry about him. He's already complaining that he's tired. Duh! But does he listen to me? Nobody listens to me. Don't know why people ask for my opinion.

We are having breakfast this morning and I'm giving him a piece of my mind. Not that I have much left.

Mental Health Day

Went to the psychiatrist the other day. We talked about my mental health which is always bad. I got scripts for my psych meds.

Then I saw my therapist. I still haven't decided if I like her or not. We talked about my eating patterns which are bipolar. I'm hungry and then I'm not hungry. And there are times when I forget to eat. I am a queer duck.

I'm still dealing with the adoption thing. I never felt part of the family and now I know why. I am po'd  that nobody told me. I'm still kinda shocked that my sister never told me because we were so close. I go to her grave and ask why.

Then there's my other sister. She was a friend and stopped talking to me in December 1986. If she was such a good friend she could've have told me. My brother is a creep who never talked to me and now I know why.

I always wonder why my parents told David my boyfriend at the time. He told me and I just let it slide. My parents liked him obviously and I guess they figured I would be cool when he told me.

And then they told my niece Debra. When I was in Michigan, she told me she had some news to tell me about myself. I told her I would wait until another time. I finally asked her two years ago and she told me the news. Of course I was cool with it.

It really bothered my at my Mom's funeral when they said she was survived by her son, daughter and adopted son. Everybody turned and looked at me. I sat there proudly.

Mike

My BFFF Mike is in the hospital again with pancreatitis. This is the third time in as many years. He pushes himself and works overtime and it just gets on my nerves.

He was asleep when I got there but he woke up for a little while and we talked. The nurse went by to get a glucose reading and it was 220! And he hasn't eaten anything since yesterday.

I worry about him. I don't want him to die first because he wants me to sing the worst Bette Midler song, Wind Beneath My Wings. I hate that song. It was a sellout. Everyone I know hates that song.At least I'm in good company. I refuse to sing it, maybe I'll read it but I will not sing it.

Pray for Mike. Light candles. Think positive thoughts.

Dr's Visit

Went to the doctor's today. I was very concerned about my low blood sugar. And my blood pressure has been through the roof lately.

Of course my glucose reading was okay, 79. And my blood pressure was okay. It never fails. Well, at least I take my health in my hands. It's been said that we are very aware of our bodies.

Low Blood Sugar

Still having problems. The other day was so bad I was in bed most of the day. I did call Jeanne yesterday and got her input.

I am eating better. I'm actually having breakfast rather than my usual sweet yummy.  Still doing salads and having a nice dinner, although I eat early.

She was concerned of course and suggested I make an appointment with my doctor.

Nutrionist

Went to see Jeanne, my nutritionist yesterday. I'm very concerned about my low blood sugar. I've been feeling bad and I get shaky and have a headache and perspire like there's no tomorrow.

She did say to start a food diary. I hate that because I usually embellish. I also didn't gain nor lose weight. I was surprised because I really pigged out last month.

I am scheduled for a glucose reading for my next labs next month. In the meantime, I will start eating right again.

Happy New Year

Another year come and gone. Today would have been my sister's 74th birthday. She was taken at the young age of 47. I still miss her and still mourn her.

Eddie came over with some steaks that I put in the oven for 45 minutes. I also made baked potatoes and we had a nice dinner.

I also got stuck hosting Christmas dinner with Ed and Evelyn. Seems that I have a clean apartment ready for entertaining. And I hate the holidays. Too many bad memories.

Nothing much going on. I feel like I've gained 50 pounds. I do have an appointment to see my nutritionist to talk to her about my eating. For some reason I get low blood pressure and get dizzy and have headaches and the only way to feel better is to eat. And I have been pigging out like there's no tomorrow.

Dr's Visit

Went to the doctor for lab results. My t-cell count went up surprisingly, 142 compared to 127 last quarter. I'm still undetectable which is good.

I updated my meds with him and he gave me some scripts for what's ailing moi. Of course I called the pharmacy and they hadn't received it yet. 

Called the clinic to see if they could  resend my scripts. They called it in and of course, they had to special order them. I should get them sometime tomorrow. 

Of course I'll be feeling a lot better tomorrow. I did go downstairs to Oasis for some chicken soup. I wolfed the whole thing. I immediately started feeling better. Broke my fever is what  it did.  I took a shower and had a great nap.

I'm feeling great. I will take my meds when I get them. I'll just save them until next time.

Ladies Who Lunch

Went to lunch with Mike and Tony Sunday. Eddie wasn't feeling well, he's got a sinus infection. Great I told him, that will give us something to talk about. LOL.

We went to Sam's Burger Joint on Grayson. I should mention that Eddie told me to get him a burger. Which I did out of the goodness of my heart. The selling point for me other than the yummy food is that they serve Pepsi. I had four!

We ate and laughed and talked about Eddie. He's such a character.  

Yesterday he was still under the weather. I called him every now and then to check up on him. He got angry with me telling me that  I text to much and call him a lot. 

He called me a few minutes later to apologize. Well, I will not be calling him anymore. 

Thanksgiving

Anybody that knows me know that I don't celebrate holidays. So what happened this year? I wound up hosting!

Eddie said if I didn't have plans I could go to his home and eat there. Okay said I. He shot for 2,00 p.m. I was happy with that. Then he said 4,00 p.m., long story short, we ate at 7,00 p.m.

Oh yeah, I forgot. He decided somewhere that we would eat in my home. Okay said I. And then he invited a neighbour as well. 

Everything went off okay. The mac and cheese was a bit overcooked, but everything else was okay. I made garlic mashed potatoes. He made the turkey, mac and cheese, and stuffing.

It was funny. Wednesday I went to get some things. Eddie gave me a short list of stuff to get. So there I was getting things and I had to call him several times to ask about the list. I felt like the husband calling the wife.

I've already said it, but if we do this again, he's gonna have to cook the turkey up here. That will cut into running around from home to home.

Busy Day

I did a lot of running around today. I'm exhausted. Went to SAAF to pick up my bus pass for next month.

I forgot. I got all dolled up for my day. I wore jeans that fit, a thermal golden coloured shirt. Hot! Then I wore my winter coat that just looked fabulous on me. Then for the piece de resitance, I wore my beret. I did wear gloves but forgot the scarf. Oh well, too much on my plate. 

Came home for a bit. I didn't eat anything for lunch because I wasn't hungry. Then it was off to the clinic to see my new therapist. I always hate getting used to a new therapist. Lisa was cool. I talked about the depression, the adoption, and my Mom's death. A lot for day 1.

Then I went to Subway's and got a yummy sandwich. Came home and ate that for lunch/dinner. I got all comfy for the night. 

But no, she had other things to do. I went to HEB to get some things. It was a mad house. Tuesdays are usually busy  because of their coupons. Got off the bus and went in and out within 20 minutes. And I got the same bus going home. 

I forgot. This really made my day, month, year. I was at the clinic looking gorgeous and one of the receptionists said that I was looking good. Was it the beret? My head got even bigger.

Another thing I forgot. I went to see my nutritionist and I lost three pounds! She did ask me to take off my shoes and coat and beret. Great for my ego. 

All in all, I had a great day. I don't get many of those. I'm happy. I'm content.

Kathy Griffin

Mike and I went to see Kathy Griffin the other night. OMG! What a riot. She was great as usual. Used the f-word, the p-word, and the c-word. 

She picked on everyone including Gov Perry. She also made the comment that I've said before. She said Kelly Clarkson is a better singer than Carrie Underwood. I think Kelly is more quality and Carrie is quantity. 

I had to go real bad I was laughing so much. But I didn't want to miss anything. I held it in and continued to laugh. 

Nice to get out of the house every now and then.

The Viewing

I'm still thinking about the rosary for my Mom. Very surreal. It's almost a blur. 

I sat with Barbara and Debra as usual. Mom looked good. They really did a good job. She really looked like she was asleep. They just had the viewing and a mass the next day. 

Honey, I worked to room. So many relatives that I haven't seen in like forever. They all knew me and congratulated on my thin look. They also noticed that I wasn't guerro anymore. 

My other niece went up and eulogized my Mom. She also said that my sister was a great caregiver. What? This is the woman that sent my Mom to a home. And did she visit? That's another story.

This woman was leading the rosary. She mentioned that Mom is survived by her son and daughter, and get this, an adopted son! I don't know but everyone I've told this to said that was uncalled for. But that's my family. Again, everybody knew but me. I did find out last year though. 

I still have Barbara and Debra as my family and I'm cool with it.

Death

My Mom passed away last night. Good. She suffered a lot these past two years. 

Don't know any funeral details yet. But I'll be there. Wonder if I'll make a scene?

The Master of My Domain

The Love of My Life. Here's Jean-Luc posing on the love seat. He's in charge of my life. He's quite the character and he loves me a lot. 

Eddie and Victoria were over yesterday and she took this photo of JL. He loves to pose for the camera. He's not shy unlike me. He behaved while she was here, no biting. Of course he made a new friend. 

He is the Master of My Domain. I'm his human and he knows it. He follows me everywhere and makes sure that I'm there for him. Duh!

He naps with me and is now waiting in bed for me. I just had to post this photo of my baby.

Hospitals

What a weekend! First Betty's funeral. I get along with their family than I do with my family. It was great seeing them and we had that rapport that makes one family.

Now Debra's in the hospital. She had hives and had a high glucose reading. She's doing great and wants to go home. She also wants to go back to work.

While visiting her tonight, we got a call saying my Mom was in ICU. It was sad seeing her in such pain. They're gonna put her in a morphine drip and they are talking hospice. I hope she dies because she's suffered a lot.

Betty

Betty was Debra's mother-in-law. She passed away Tuesday and her funeral is today. 

Betty was a cool lady. She was okay with my gayness and we had a fun and loving rapport. She's been in and out of the hospital for the past few years. I hate to say it, but I'm glad she past away so she won't have to suffer anymore. 

Barbara's gonna pick me up in about an hour for the funeral. I will miss Betty a lot. She had a great sense of humour and we loved to pick on each other.

Ambien

For some reason, Humana will only authorize a 90 day supply of Ambien. I need this to sleep. So the clinic authorized a script to another pharmacy. It was out of my way but worth the trip.

Now I have to go to the CentroMed pharmacy on Zarzamora. It's a long trip and takes up most of the day. I was lucky because they revamped their system and I was able to pick it up within an hour and a half. This is quick folks.

All told, I took seven trollies and buses. I left here at 8,00 and got back at 1 p.m. I was a stressed and tired puppy. But I can sleep well for another 30 days.

Ladies Who Lunch

Went to lunch with Mike and Tony yesterday. When I suggested lunch, Mike asked if he should bring his ball and chain. I said sure and I'll bring mine! That would be Eddie.

We had a nice visit together. Went to Luther's where everything was quite tasty. Eddie and I were talking and nitpicking each other. Tony asked how did we wind up married before they did. LOL.

Food Stamps

Interesting. I was getting $16 in food stamps for the month. What with all that's happening in Washington, I will now get $15 a month. 

Is it worth it? Every little bit helps. It's not much but I will use it. Hopefully someone in the know will notice and give me more. And I will win the lottery.

Chicken Soup

I'm still not feeling well. I called Oasis for some chicken soup today. There's something soothing about soup. I ate it and took a five hour nap. 

I'm sleeping too much, but seems like I need it. I'm ready to go to sleep right now. I feel like I'm sleeping my life away. I wish I could get over this depression, but it's lurking.

Someday I'll get over this and I'll be back to normal.

Depression

Don't know why it happens but it does. I can feel a depression coming or it just hits me out of the blue. This one came out of the blue.

I was minding my own business when it hit me and hit me hard. I couldn't stop crying. I'm still depressed but I know why this time. Personal of course. Nothing I would share here.

I've been sleeping a lot lately. These naps keep me in bed thinking. Thinking of a lot of things and one. I've dealt with these feelings for over four decades now. 

Spent the day in bed today. Jean-Luc was beside me and he helps out a lot. I am truly blessed to have him in my life. He keeps me centered. 

I only had toast for dinner. That was all I could keep down. I wake up ready for bed. I hate this. But what can I do? No medications or therapy can help me when I'm blue. 

Nothing much going on. Just stay in bed is all I'm doing. I want to do things but my heart's not into them.

Better

I'm doing a whole lot better. I think it was the air filter that was making me sick. It was dirty and had some mold. I just can not believe my readings. Whatever, I'm doing better. 

High Blood Pressure

My readings are still high. Dr Martinez put me on two meds to get it to a normal reading. I check every day to see if I'm doing better. 

Yesterday I went to my PCP. Of course he wasn't there. Dr Martinez is not available for PCP, and Humana named another doctor. I'm not pleased.

I got a wet noodle lashing because of my wrist cuff. While there, I had three different readings. They did say I should get the manual cuff instead. 

I was disappointed. One thing I did notice is that I feel worse at home. Yesterday I felt okay when I went out. But as soon as I got back, I wasn't feeling well again. 

I just got a clean air filter and I hope that will work for me.

Eddie

Eddie's back to abnormal. He was apparently depressed which made him disappear from sight. I know the feeling. 

He was in the hospital again. This time it was a pneumonia. He really sounded bad when I talked to him. But he's out and he's in good spirits. 

He asked Victoria to look in on me. How sweet. I did go over several times and had a blast. She's real cool and I have bonded with her partner Natalie.

High Blood Pressure

This is kinda hard for me to believe. My blood pressure has been high for the past two weeks. I didn't know it was blood pressure but I have not been feeling well for a bit.

Eddie came over one day with his cuff and we got a high reading. I finally gave in and bought myself one. Last night my reading was 251/110! Wow! Now I check myself daily and keeping a log.

Went to the Dr's and got a script for yet another pill. I have graduated from a lot of meds and only taking 14 now, compared to 23. I'm happy with that. 

Today I'm feeling a bit better. Still have a headache and dizziness, but then people will say I've always been dizzy! LOL.

Dr's Visit

Went to see my doctor Friday. I went to get a letter allowing me to swim at the Natatorium for free. He gave me the letter with all the info. I've been wanting to go for the past year but could not afford the visits. Hopefully with this note I'll be able to swim and get my girlish figure again.

While I was there I also mentioned my bad right shoulder. It's been bothering me for a while. I woke up one morning with a sharp pain. He gave me a script that seems to be working. 

Also talked about my high blood pressure. I've been good, but lately, I have been having headaches that I think are because of my blood pressure. He also gave me a script for that and we'll see what happens. 

Nothing much going on. Just waiting around to go swim.

HEB

Went grocery shopping yesterday with Eddie and Victoria and Natalie, two neighbors down the hall from me. That's all we need, two faggots and two lesbians.

We had a blast. Me and Victoria finished our shopping and we had to wait for Eddie. That girl can shop, he bought stuff to last the month.

I also bought a Purina product for Jean-Luc to watch his weight. He likes it so I'm gonna keep on buying the stuff.

Afterwards, we went to a Mexican restaurant on Zarzamora St. The food was amazing. I had a lengua taco and a bean and rice taco. I thought about it afterwards and found it funny for me to get the bean and rice taco when I've eaten that for the past month at home. Anyhoooo, it's a restaurant I would go back to.

Baking

Lately I've been baking as therapy. My friends here have been impressed with my baking. My specialty is carrot cake. They oohed and ahed went they tasted it. I just do it for attention. I like the limelight.

Eddie also noticed that my memory has improved since I started baking. I never keep track of things like that. And another neighbour, Victoria, has also seen a change in me.

I just know that I like following the directions and whipping up something spectacular. I rarely eat any of my creations.

Doug is also a good baker and cook. I guess he does it for therapy also. He's always giving food away and I'm on his distribution list. I just know that I'll enjoy his cooking.

He brought over a vegetable soup the other day and it was so tasty. Kinda caldo de res without the res. I can hardly wait for his next creation.

Doug

Doug is an older man I have the hots for. We've been very close and it's this side of a relationship. He's tall, handsome, and white.

We met a councilman the other day and I commented that he looked attractive. Doug said he's my type, tall, handsome and white. I said you just described yourself.

He's also a great baker. He recently gave me a bunt pan and a springform pan. I also have a cast iron skillet he gave me a few years ago.

Eddie and I got on the elevator one day and Doug was there looking for me. He was concerned because we had a lunch date and I missed it. He looked at Eddie and said what's this?

Afterwards, Eddie said he's perfect for me. I call Doug my Silver Daddy. And he gives great hugs. Next time I'm gonna try a little harder. Mike also thinks he's great for me. I didn't know people cared about me that much.

We'll see what happens. We've been very close for the past nine years. It's just a matter of time. He also makes the best vodka martinis I've ever had. One day we had a lunch to go to and we each had about three martinis. I can't believe we went out that day.

Ladies Who Lunch

I treat myself periodically. I eat salads at home and eat smaller portions.

Eddie and I went to Bob's Big Burgers the other day. The food was awesome! I had a 50/50 burger which is Angus beef and bacon. OMG! It was fabulous.

The other thing that I liked about it is they have Pepsi!!! I was in heaven. Like I said, it was a treat.We also had onion rings and fried mushrooms. Again OMG!

I was stuffed. That was all the meal I had that day. We sat outside and people watched. There was a cute guy walking his poodle and Eddie struck up a conversation with him. Ya'll know how shy I am. I would never do that.

Mike, Tony, et Moi went to the theatre the other day. We went to see The Book of Mormon. It was great and funny. There was colourful language that I could have done with, but it fit in with the musical.

Slow Week

Nothing much to write about. I stayed home all week because of the weather. Plus there's no money for anything.

We had rain most of the week. Everything from drizzle to rain. And I didn't have any appointments.

I watched DVDs. I'm almost finished with The Good Wife. It's great and there are two hot men with tasty noses. Chris Noth is the cheating husband. We remember him from Sex and the City. The other one is Josh Charles. I remember him from Hairspray of all things.

Insomnia

I did not sleep last Tuesday thru Friday nights. I was a mess. I ran out of ambien and I had no idea how much I needed it.

I was a zombie and just walking in a daze thru this time. I wasn't eating properly which just made it worse.

Humana only allows 90 pills per month. I like Humana and had no problems before. I went to get a new script and told them the situation.

Centromed is my clinic and the director said they would pay for the script. I wasn't able to get them until Saturday. How exciting.

I took two to be on the safe side. I was finally able to get some sleep. I've even been able to take naps again. I was a wreck, but I'm slowly catching up on things. Thank goodness for drugs.

Pepsi

Everyone who knows me knows that I LOVE Pepsi. I first had one in Mexico and it was so sweet. The American version is still great but not as much as the Mexican version.

One of my criteria when I go to a restaurant is if they have Pepsi. If they say no, I order water. I haven't had a Pepsi in about two months.

So I was pleasantly surprised that two of my restaurants serve Pepsi, Sam's Burger Joint and Lone Star Cafe on the River Walk. I know I'll be going there more often, when I have moolah.

Eating

From one extreme to another.

Last Friday I was feeling unwell, that's what we prefer to call it. I was clammy, headache, dizzy. I couldn't figure what the problem was.

Somehow, I made the realization that I hadn't eaten all day. Lightbulb. Duh. I ate rice and beans and started to feel better. So now I know for next time.

Today I was schlepping around taking care of business. I've been in a chinese mood for a while, so I went to a buffet.

Oink, oink. I ate more than I should have. I started feeling unwell before I paid. So I walked to the bus stop and the bus was right there. That hardly ever happens.

I came home and I had to regurgitate. So guess what? I felt a whole lot better afterward. And then I had a major headache. I lay down to compose myself and it took a while to get back in sync.

I still have the headache and I'm dizzy, although people would say I'm always dizzy. LOL. I feel so bloated though. I feel like I gained 50 lbs.

So I'm gonna take some Tylenol and call it a night. Hope everything goes well for me.

Luther's

It's starting to look like a weekly thing for us. Mike and Tony and Eddie and moi get together on Sunday's after church. Mike and Tony go and they pick us up after church.

We went to Luther's on Main St. Great food and gay friendly. And for some reason, we keep getting the same ditsy queen as Eddie says.

The waitress queen is a little forgetful at times. And we've had him every time we go. We had a great time of course. Good food and great companionship.

We laughed and ate and caught up on each other. Wonder where we'll go next.

PO'd

Sometimes I just want to give up on everything. What's the point of taking my meds? I feel healthy  most of the time.

Lately I've had a headache that won't go away. Every little thing might be big in the world of AIDS.

I'm pissed off at the world. I'm still depressed, but that's been going on for about 50 years. I don't think I'll ever get rid of that.

And then there's the financial aspect. In May Medicare started taking my premium out of my check. That means I'm short on cash for about $150. That's really hurting.

I get the minimum groceries. I do tend to buy what I want rather than the things I need. Still up the creek.

I have about several hundred dollars I have to pay for physical therapy. I was going to an agency that promised me they would pay my co-pays. Of course they weren't paying afterall.  

I thought nothing of it until I asked the agency if they were gonna be able to pay. I have to talk to my manager about it. Meaning no.

And then my therapist reprimanded me for something I didn't do. Like I said, I got  pissed off and stopped my therapy. I don't want anything to do with them.

I just want to get it over with. I went to see my psychiatrist today and got scripts for my mental situation. Again, why bother? I just go with the motion here.

They always ask if I have a plan. Duh?! Of course I do. I just don't have the courage to follow through. She asked if I have thoughts of killing myself. Again, duh?

I'm just tired of it all. Every little thing might be something big. I just want to give up. I'm tired. There's no point.

Lap Cat

Jean-Luc has been very needy lately. He jumps on the recliner and lays in my lap and starts purring. He also jumps in my lap when I'm at the computer. Gotta love the little goober.

He likes to nap on the loveseat, but as soon as I go to nap, he follows my and lays down next to me. He's such a sweet heart.

And I love him very much.

Dr's Visit

Went to get my labs results. My t-cell count's gone down again. I have 117 t-cells. They've been going down for the past year.

While I was in the waiting room, Tyler came by to get a script. Tyler is a hot Black man who I've fantasized about. He's sporting a beard and his hair is bushy compared to the last time I saw him.

He did not recognize me. It took him a while and then his eyes popped out. You're looking good. I said better! LOL.

There was also a muscled hottie waiting to see the doctor. This guy was hot and he wore a tank top that showed his nipples. Yum!

So Tyler leans over and asks who's the eye candy? I said he was my future ex-husband which made us both laugh. Nice to see him as always.

For some unknown reason, Eddie is not talking to me. We were so close we could finish each other's sentences.

He is very distant. I went to his apartment the other day to share some food. He held the door open for me to leave.

He was a force that came out of nowhere and swept me off my feet. I know, I have to talk to him, but he always has an excuse.

I miss him. We had a great rapport with each other. I have feelings for him which is scary. I need him in my life.

Sam's Burger Joint

Went out Sunday for lunch with Mike and Tony and moi and Eddie. We had a blast of course.

The selling point for me is they serve Pepsi. In case ya'll don't know, I love Pepsi. When I go to restaurants I always order Pepsi, if they don't have it I'll just order water.

Anyhoooo, Sam's has Pepsi so I was satisfied going in. I had the mushroom Swiss burger. This is my signature food. I also have it at Micky D's.

Well, we visited and talked and ate. Mike and Tony and moi devoured our burgers. Eddie took half home.

Let's see where we go next.  I'm thinking EZ's in Alamo Heights or HomoHeights as we lovingly call it.

Skinny!?!?!?

Wow! Somebody described me as the tall skinny guy! Talk about a compliment. I still want to lose some more. Wonder how I'll be described when I get to my desired weight.

It's kinda weird when I can feel my ribs. And I can see my clavicle. I just know I feel good, except for my depression.

Went to get my lab results. The doctor was on-call and didn't know when he'd be back. So I rescheduled.

While there, I checked in with the nutritionist, Jeanne. I gained 2 pounds since my last visit. She also gave me some Ensure, a therapeutic nutrition. They are quite tasty. She's also able to get me a three-month supply. And I do share them with Mike and Eddie. We look out after each other.

Happy 38th Birthday to hottie Brazilian Rodrigo Santoro. He's done some movies, but his most memorable role was in 300.

Ladies That Lunch

Went to Luther's the other day. Mike and Tony and Eddie and I went for great food.

We had a blast. Stayed almost two hours yakking away. I had the Angus hamburger that was very tasty.

I hardly see Mike anymore. And now that he has a beau, more so. I like Tony and I understand their situation.

Eddie talked to Tony and Mike and I chatted on our own. Fun was had by everyone. Let's see when we get together again.

Pet Peeve #2

I've been meaning to write about this, but I forget to write this.

Why is it that people getting on the bus do not have their fare ready? It's mostly women that do this and they rifle through their purses after they get on the bus. The bus winds up being minutes late.

If I can have my shit together, why can't they? Nerve racking.

I Am Loved

I'm b-a-a-c-k. I have been unable to blog anything for some reason. I'm glad this is working again. 

Doug and I had a lunch date the other day. He never called to confirm, so I went out to lunch by myself.

I went back home and bumped into Eddie. He was headed to Walgreens, so I went also. When we got back home, who is coming out of the elevator? Doug.

He was concerned about me. He even called the answering service. But there we were and I got a great big hug from him. He does care about me.
