Happy 80th Birthday to hunky Tab Hunter, 6 June. I've always found him very handsome.

Neurologist

I've been sitting on some news letting them fester at me. Mess went with me as a second set of ears.

They did an EEG of my brain looking for seizures, but of course this did not affect me. The neurologist said it's a sign of old age. He upped the dosage on my meds and that's about it.

So that's it? I'm to live with the tremors and the dosage. There has to be more to it than age. I will of course talk to my doctor when I see him this month. There is the option of a second opinion.

This of course did not sit well with me and I've been kinda depressed about it. For the past week I've been lying down for a daily nap. And I've not been going anywhere, just the library and pharmacy. Let's see what this week brings.

Slow Week

I did nothing this past week. It was too hot to go anywhere and wound up fighting with Jean Luc for the bed. He has a whole bed to available so what does he do? He has to lie as much as he wants, but I get all the attention.

Mental Day

Went to see my therapist today. She's been having some medical issues and we hadn't touched base in quite a while. I already forgot why she was out of the office.

She loved my hair colour and noticed that it looks like I'm still losing weight. Honey, I thanked profusely and not enough.

I still feel depressed, but I think my meds are great and I hope they don't take them away. It was a great visit and nice to see her up and around. She's walking with a cane and she loved mine and she had to go and out do me.

Friday Heat

Another hot day. I did not go out other than to get my Meal today. It was nice and hot again, still reminds me of a sauna.

Nothing to report. I was in bed for about four hours, just me and my roommate.

I take it back, there is something to report. My ache from last week's fall has finally ended. Still a little tender but I'm over it.

Way2Hot

Yesterday was hot and today might even be just as hot. I did go to Walgreens yesterday and I felt the hot, at least there was no humidity. It was like sitting in a sauna. I miss that from the old YMCA.

Other than that, everything's okay. I will not be going anywhere today. I will definitely stay home and wait until the weekend, maybe there will be a nice breeze here and there.

Tabasco

My roommate likes to chew on cords and I have many to choose from at my computer.

Cordless mice are good, but they don't last long with batteries. So, I had a regular mouse with a cord which I prefer. So does Jean Luc. He will chew on the cord and eventually break the tail.

I read somewhere to rub Tabasco sauce on the cords. And Purple 13 said the same thing. So I came home and put some on a cotton ball and rubbed it all over the cords.

JL doesn't like it one bit. He also doesn't like the smell according to Purple 13. I don't know if it's true or not, but he has kept away from my computer. Great recommendation and I will pass that info to others having the same problem.

I was waiting for the bus the other day and this young man asked if the bus had passed already. Then he sits on the bench next to me where our legs touched each other. He couldn't have been about 18 of so. Very difficult to tell.

Then he asked if I was gay and I said yes. I asked if he was and he said sometimes. Hmmmm...

Okay, the guy was babealicious. He was African American and he was in a tank top and he had his pants down near his knees. I'm not into that look but if he got what he wanted, I probably wouldn't have to worry about it.

He then starts telling me what he's into and he said he was top but would bottom for the right person, then he gives me details of what he likes. I won't go into detail, but they were the right on the money.

His name is Kevin, although I don't think that's his real name. Very attractive muchacho and he piqued my interest. He was also asking everybody at the bus stop if anyone had extra change to get on the bus.

He did say he'd call me later. I gave him to number to Frost Bank that gives the time. I will never see him again, I can just feel it. Oh, he did say I was cute. Cute?

I was waiting for the trolley but I let some of them go by just to keep talking to him. He said he'd call that night, yeah right. They all say that.
It was fun flirting like I used to do in the past.

Bus Pass

Wow. I didn't know how dependent I am on the VIA passes. The agency where I get my pass didn't have them until today. Lucky for me I didn't have to go anywhere.

I do have a VIA identification that's good for two years or so. My last id card I was listed as Medicare. This time around, I'm still ferklempt about it, they listed me as Senior. Gurl, I ain't nowhere near that stage of life.

But at least I have my pass for the month. I'm one happy camper.

HEB

Mess and I went to HEB today, gotta love the hot men that were out today. Nice to have money to get the essentials.

I had to wait for my Meals on Wheels and then Mess picked me up and since we hadn't had breakfast yet, I took us to Jim's on Hildebrand. I don't know if I blogged it, but I'm back on Meals on Wheels. The food is mediocre but it's some kind of food.

Ladies Who Lunch

It's been a long time coming. The POZ Posse reunited today. Very difficult to get together because of the different diets we're on. Mess needs his seafood. I am the carnivore in the group so you know what that means. HP is also vegetarian but will eat fish or chicken.

The important thing is we got together and visited with each other. While we do have other supporters, our little Posse is special and we do look after each other.

Better

I'm actually doing better today. Will probably get in bed before the morning's over. I still have aches and pain, but I'm confident I'll get over little hurdle.

BTW: I have been talking to the Meals on Wheels people and I'm back on their list. Today's my first day and as soon as the driver leaves, I'm coming up to lay down.

I'm still thinking of my fall yesterday. I was doing so well. Woke up this morning with aches and pains. I'm even using the cane at home. At least I don't have to go anywhere. I'm hitting the pillows after I make some phone calls.

Oh, BTW, I found that Chif is quite the talented man around here. Chif tripped on the side walk, but landed on his knees in the street. Wonder what he can do for an encore. LOL.

Post Card

Whenever one of us, family, trips, we immediately say Did you Send a Post Card. Moi and Purple 13 did our Blanco Cafe routine this afternoon and I had to go to Walgreen's. We had just past a line of cars, when all of a sudden I tripped on a grate at St Mark's Church.

It was so classic for moi. We were just talking about how far I was progressing. Then came the trip. It was slow motion for me and I could hear Purple 13 asking if I was okay.

I landed on my knees and I have the scrapes as proof. Anyhooooo, I got up and walked to Walgreen's to get some stuff.

And I was doing so good. Chif just took some Tylenol and I'm off to La-La Land.

Lazy Saturday

Don't know what's up with me lately. Yesterday I stayed in bed all day. Of course Jean Luc was into loving my bed, I let him think it's his bed but it really is mine.

I just lay there thinking of whatever came to my mind. I didn't sleep but I finally got up around 7 p.m. or so to brush my teeth and a soothing hot shower. And then I was ready to go back to bed for the night.

John David Fike, born June 14, 1961 in Muskogee, Oklahoma; died May 22, 2011 in San Antonio, Texas. He was preceded in death by his mother Martha Gail Fike, and grandparents Sewell and Martha Raper and LaRue Fike Collins. He is survived by his life partner Donald Rodriguez. Also survived by his father John L. Fike and wife Linda of College Station, sister Martha Fike Kelly and husband Mike of New Braunfels, niece Katy Swift and husband Kyle, Great Nephew Sam Swift, and Nephew Kevin Kelly, by his uncle Charles Raper and wife Sandy and cousin Shawn Raper and wife Melissa. He was also survived by numerous other friends and relatives. John died after a brief battle with cancer. He was very active in the HIV community in San Antonio and served on many boards and panels throughout his many years of being HIV positive. He was formally a 30 year resident of the Dallas area. John was loved and supported by many during is battle with cancer. He will be cremated and his ashes returned to Muskogee, Oklahoma where his mother is buried. Today is Mess's birthday. We never say how old we are. He goes by White Chocolate Mess or just Mess to his dearest friends. He's a rare individual that can tolerate moi. We love ya Mess, let's make some more next year and the year after and so on.

Progress

Boy, I've come a long way since October last. I still cannot fathom how I fell in and why I was not able to get a grip to get out. Guess I was in shock as I lay there.

There was no way of telling time while I was there. But survive I did. This is where we say Cosa Mala Nunca Muere, Bad things never die but survive I did.

Anyhoooooo, I was in a wheel chair for a week then had the walker for about two months. Then came the cane which I still use depending on how I feel. But walking I am able to do again.

I can't walk to the Mercado to the Alamo. I used to be able to but I do make use of my bus pass for the month. That's why when HP comes over, we take the trolley to Alamo Square for Subways. This is the only Subways that I know of that are open on the weekend. There's only four walking distance to the other. One day I'll check out the other two at Market Square and the other across the street from the Cathedral.

But I digress. I've come a long way. It shows people what sheer determination can do or what we are capable of. Who knew? LOL.

Ladies Who Lunch

HP came over yesterday but he took us to lunch at La Margarita. The food is always tasty and never salty. I had my Green Echiladas and HP had Enchilads Acapulco which is stuffed with sea food. HP and Mess have been eating vegetarian except Mess is strictly sea food and vegetarian and HP will eat sea food and chicken.

Anyhooo, we were busy looking at hunky waiters and the hot tourists. OK, most tourists are obnoxious and pretentious, but every now and then you get a good one. I stay away from them and everybody around me!

Blonde Ambition

Oops! I forgot to blog about my hair. I love it and I am noticed more than usual. Danny does my color, which means I'm blond down to the roots.

Then I went to the barber and got a hair cut and a shave. I've never had a shave so I urged him on. I did ask for him to leave me a goatee.

I'm awesome. I'm loving it. I tell people it's the color of Peeps, and then it looks like a Nazi officer. LOL.

And guys noticed me at the camp out. It's funny how you see these people once or twice a year and they actually remember me. Don't know why.

Backache

Don't know why my back is hurting, but it's hurting bad. This is day three and I've been taking Tylenol followed by a much needed nap. Today I actually took 2 naps and it helped a lot.

Other than that, I'm okay. I'm back on meds again. I took a little vacation off meds because of the camp out.

Speaking of camp out, HP is already talking about the camp out in September! Oy vey. Let me recuperate before I start talking about it. That's 118 days away! Dare I start another countdown.

Mental Health

Just got back from my visit with Dr J, my psychiatrist. I am in good mental health compared to 2 or 3 years ago. I think we got the correct medications in control.

This being a Hump Day also, I would love to have humped with him. I think he is hot and I wouldn't mind humping with him. LOL.

Karaoke

Karaoke is like tattoos, you can never get enough. I've done karaoke before and have been good. Not my first number! I really effed Beyond the Sea and I knew it when I was on stage.

But then I redeemed myself. Strangers in The Night has always been one of my favourites and I've sung it before and Honey, I made up for my bad start.

And I just had to do I Say a Little Prayer and wowed the audience. It got to the point where the MC looked my way to see if I had another. I would have sung some more but he was having problems with his equipment. Too bad, there's always September!

FREEZING!

The weather was perfect until we went to sleep. I was shivering all night long and did not get much sleep. That plus I had to urinate several times during the night.

We went to several cocktail parties and drank up a storm. The camp ground is on a septic tank so we were asked to urinate in the woods and save the bathrooms for #2.

Saturday morning was still cold and breakfast warmed us up a little. We did spend a lot of time around the camp out fire to warm us up. And then Saturday night, it was cool again and we headed for our tents to go to sleep.

HP did buy me a blankie at Wal-Mart and I wrapped myself up like a burrito with that and my flannel sheet. Since we were pissing in the woods, I just opened my tent flap and I peed out from the tent. As soon as I finished and rolled up myself, I had to go again.

Joshua

Joshua deserves a post altogether. He was around 20 or so, quite handsome, and of Pacific Islander American descent. He wore different sarongs that he changed periodically.

We did karaoke and he wasn't that good but who cares. We just wanted to see him. He made up with his presence.

And then the piece de resistant, during the drag show, he came out in belly dancer attire and wig and proceeded to belly dance for us. He was awesome.

Survivalist

Okay, I survived. Friday we got there around 1,00 p.m. and pitched our tents near the compound. It was just me and HP, Mess wasn't feeling well.

We just missed lunch so we waited until dinner, which was poor boys and salad. Breakfast was scrambled eggs, hash browns, and sausage patties.
Dinner was brisket and grilled chicken and that was a welcome treat.

Sunday, we skipped and broke down HP's tent. I borrowed one from the guys in charge. The plus side was we could leave the tent up for the organizers to break down. And then we drove home.

Shoe Nazi. We were waiting in line for dinner Friday and this man came up to me. He was the medical person in charge and gave me a warning to get some shoes rather than the sandals I was wearing. Creep. He warned us because of the snakes and scorpions. So Saturday we drove to the nearest Wal-Mart to get something more presentable. And of course he wasn't around and there were other guys in sandals.

Wednesday

It's getting closer and closer. It'll be just a getaway from AIDS and medication. I've been before and you can make the best of everything.

Went to lunch with Centromed @ La Margarita, like I never tire of Mexican food. Then Mess came by and we went to HEB followed by the liquor store. We do have to take our essentials.

I actually haven't packed yet if you can believe it. But I already know what I'm taking. I do have to remember to take my tooth paste, I forgot the last time and had to ask the guy next to me for squirt outta his. We all help each other out.

Anxious

Well, the Meals on Wheels did not come by today. I stayed in all day waiting for them, so in the meantime. I cleaned out my closet. I have stuff for the Goodwill and some to trash.

I am glad to report there was no vomiting today. Cawfee and toast for breakfast and carne guisada for lunch. I waited until five to take out trash and go to Subways for dinner. All this before Glee, which was kinda ho-hum tonight.

Monday

Boy am I tired. I did a lot of running around yesterday. Went to the bank to deposit a refund from a check that was re-processed twice. That was my small brief adventured at North Star.

I got home earlier than expected so I did my library pharmacy routine. I came home to eat and vomit. Woo hoo.

Don't know when I returned my camping gear, but I wanted to save as much as possible. I remembered that they have gear for the asking. Starting next month, I will start to buy the gear one at a time so I'll be ready for the next camping in September.

Meals on Wheels

This came out of nowhere. I got a call to see if I wanted Meals again. Duh! Of course I said yes. So I have to be here between 9 a.m. - 3.00 p.m. next Tuesday like I'm gonna go somewhere.

I do have to run to Wal-Mart probably Monday to get some more stuff for the camp out. Today I bought an air mattress and a tent, so I'm almost ready for next weekend.

I would have bought the other stuff I wanted but there's only so much one can carry on the bus.

Vomit

I'm throwing up again. And I was doing so great. Of course it's the food I make at home that make me sick. That's why I go out for lunch or dinner. I should have brought it up with my doctor when I saw him this week. I'm just afraid to bring anything up because then we have do tests and see what's available.

I hate this. It leaves an ugly aftertaste that brushing sometimes help.

I did go out today. Went to get some colour in my hair again. We bleached and then added secret ingredient into my hair. Gurl, can we say flawless? I LOVED it! My hair cut from last week give me a great effect.

Dr's visit

I went to the clinic to see my doctor and get the scoop on my labs. Turns out everything is okay, Tcell count of 152, still undetectable liver, bladder, and kidneys okay. No signs of diabetes, my glucose readings are usually between 6o to 80.

So I'm a man living with HIV that is in perfect health. Gurl I'm ready for it to give me the worst it can throw my way.

What's with the weather? Just yesterday I was in shorts and had the a/c on. I would have stayed home but there was an errand I had to do. I returned some DVDs and pick some things on hold.

Weekend

Hey Gurlzs, thought ya'll were lucky for me to bother ya'll this passed week. I just haven't been in the mood to do much. So, I'll do a quick update.

HP came over Easter Sunday yada yada, yada. Subway's for lunch and HP on the net later that Sunday.

Got grocery out of the picture. Mess called to invite me to HEB. Always great seeing friends.

Centro dinner Wednesday @ Luby's. Mess wasn't feeling well so I went by myself. I was starting to check the bus schedules when I remembered the trolleys. I usually do this during the week. Take the blue trolley to the Library then taking it to Camden and Lexington where I can take the blue trolley in the opposite direction and dropped me at the Luby's parking lot.

The rest of the week was just here just me and Jean Luc. Also enjoyed a must needed nap, I've been napping a lot lately. I might slowly be turning into a cat.

D invited me to dinner at Luby's for dinner yesterday and I just could not say no. D and husband L picked me up around 6 p.m. and I had a chicken fried steak.

Just nice to get out any reason every once in a while.

Barber Shop

I woke up with bad hair and decided to get coiffed. I use the Gunther Hotel's barber shop, it was a great experience for me.

When I walked in, my barber greeted me with my name and he was just finishing off a hot silver haired babe.

When it was my turn, D the barber said I was looking better than the last time he saw me. Wow. A strait man complementing a gay man, I was impressed.

Anyhooo, he knew what I wanted and got to work. I was very satisfied with him again. I do want to get a shave one day, I can't shave at home because of the tremors. My hands are fine, but as soon as I put a fork or spoon or a pen, my hands start up again.

But I will recommend the Barber Shop at the Gunther Hotel and ask for Dave.

Recommendation

HP lent me a book I would be interested in. The book was sitting there for months. I finally decided to read it and it was a laugh riot.

'At Least in the City Someone would hear me scream.' is the book in question. Author Wade Rouse decides to leave the big city and leaves the comforts of St Louis and with his partner move to the woods of western Michigan.

Of course this struck a home because years ago I moved to MI to live happily ever after. Yeah, right. Anyhoooo, this is a quick read and highly recommended by Chif..

Radio Shack

I woke up exhausted from all the schlepping I did yesterday. I hardly remember the ordeal of busing. The bright side was Whataburger, I was still tired but the fizz in the soda perked me up a little.

So I walked into Radio Shack and finally with some help from hunky worker Vhon. They didn't have the exact cable but he found a chord that is close to what I had. Success finally.

I came home exhausted even more with the heat. I took some aspirin and lay down to nap but I was still in adrenaline mode and was not able to sleep.

Exhausted!

Talk about tired out. Jean Luc thought my computer cables are for biting.
He's gone through three cables, but he thought they were for his benefit.

Today after lunch I went to the Office Depot at Crossroads. Stupid moi thought that as soon as I find the correct aisle I would find the cables. Of course moi didn't take them and I can ask the hunky worker there. He showed me what was in stock and I did not see the elusive cables. Why don't you bring in the cables and we could see if they were in stock.

So I trudged back home to take the cables. Of course they didn't have them in stock. So there I was waiting for a bus to take me back home. And then, I saw the 520 bus come in and I knew this one would go all the way to Military drive.

Of course Office Depot and Best Buy didn't have them in stock. One of the hunky guys suggested I try Radio Shack. So that's where I will try tomorrow.

Forgot to blog about this, but last Thursday I went and got my seventh tattoo. Love it. It's true when people say they're addictive. I've decided on the eighth one but I have to lose a few more pounds.

Naps

We have been taking a lot of naps lately. Like I'd be tired from working, yeah right. Don't know if it's the depression trying to come back, I don't know. You know, sometimes I reminisce about me working and not getting enough sleep. But now?

Of course I have my roommate with me, he needs to know what's going on in my domain. And he does sleep with me. Guess I'm slowly turning into a cat.

Hump Wednesday

Okay, so it's almost over but it still is Hump Day. I actually left the comforts of home and went the North Star Mall to do some bank transactions. I got my money but then my new debit card wouldn't accept me.

I was waiting for the clerk to come buy when another clerk asked if he could help me. Boy did he! I got that out of the way. I had no idea how many times I use my debit cart. I lost my card last week, AIDSheimer's, and the guy at the call center got all my info and my card would get to me within 5 working days.

That was my day. I was done and exhausted and came home to lie down. And how was your day?

SAHA Inspection

This was no trouble for me. I thought he was gonna do a thourough inspection. Honey, I can do an inspection from my days at the Hyatt. No, this guy just checked the stove and oven and fringe, and made sure I had hot/cold running water. Now he's gonna go to SAHA where somebody will figure out my share of the rent.

He was in and out in less than five minutes. Sounds like one of my exes'!

POZ Posse

Please forgive me for skipping a few days. HP came buy to surf the net and whatnot. We went to Subways where we both ordered subs, duh, and ate half there and we brought the other half for dinner. Oh yeah, we printed out our forms for the camp out.

Yesterday, Mess came by after an appointment at the clinic and we went to HEB on Olmos Dr. I got all the heavy stuff that I used to bring on the bus one at a time, Jean Luc's food and litter just to name a few.

TGIF

It is Friday, isn't it? Just another meaningless day for me. The one thing I did differently was to take some stuff to the Goodwill. I need to purge as much as possible. I have no use for some of my mess. I was able to stroll over with my walker. I had a big bag full of clothes and two smaller bags with more clothes and some glass chingaderas to unload.

I came home to find the mailman was here early and I got my Netflix for the weekend. Really bad movie, Burlesque with Cher and Christina Aguilera and some interesting cameos. Don't bother with this unless you're a fan of Cher and/or Christina.

Moody

I'm still a bit moody. I have had other days like this, so I'm used to it. I've been lying down every afternoon in the fetal position. It's like I'm fighting some inner demon and I don't want to lose.

Jean Luc has been concerned about me. When I'm lying down he comes looking for me and meows at me. And then he touches me and after he knows I'm there, he lies down next to me, and he'll fall asleep or he starts grooming himself.

Don't know what I'm depressed about, but that has been me for the past few weeks. It's just nice to lie down and not think of anything. I can handle that. We'll see how long this lasts.

Mess, Hush Puppy, and moi went to Luther's today. It's always nice to see each other and catch up with these two. Luther's is a quiet bistro on the Main drag and I didn't see any people in drag.

We also began to talk seriously about the camp out. HP will be picking my up @ 9,30 and then Mess. HP generously rents a car and we head on up to the camp site, don't ask me how far away it is.

We keep talking about karaoke and what song to sing as a trio. I'm ready for my close up Mr DeMille. Hell I took to the stage last time and it was quite a fun time. Mess and I performed, but HP was a little hesitant. Too bad, his loss.

Passport

I cannot believe that my passport arrived so quickly. It's in my gimmee hands. You might say, Chif, where are you going? Nowhere for now, but you never know when a Fairy Godmother will listen to me and my requests. Hey a girl can always dream, although my dreams are just little fires here and there.

Haven't been feeling well these few days and I lie down for a nap. When I wake up only to see Jean Luc grooming himself.

Anyhoo, there's Paris in my horizon. I'll go again but not with the walker! I did take my cane the last time, so it's going again. This year is out, but I might come into some money within the next few years or so. We'll see.

43 days until the camp out. I can smell it all the way to the Hotel Carlyle.

I haven't done this in particular, but ya'll know what I'm talking about. So I called my meds to the pharmacy today. I was left on hold for quite some time.

Seems I had already called them in Saturday and my meds are waiting for me. Another AIDSheimer's moment. At least they make for a funny moment.

Ladies who Lunch

This was an unusual Sunday. I actually went out with someone other than my Pozze.

I've been trying to get my DVD of The Women from E. E and I go back to the Hyatt days. Did I every mention I worked at a hotel? Anyhooo, we actually found the time in our busy schedules to meet, I know the me working is laughable.

So we went to India Palace for their buffet. I had my usual mango lassi, and we went in for the kill. I'd been craving the food here and was a bit disappointed. Maybe they have a new chef. I will recommend this anyway.

Well we caught up on what was going in our lives, and I will not elaborate on anything. The thing is I was enjoying time with a friend from the infamous Hyatt. Talk about memories.

So that was it for E and me. He was wondering if there was an ice cream place in the area but he didn't find any. Just take me home moi said. I was out of my home for about 2 hours. I know, I could have been out longer, but I was out of my element for a bit. I'll do better next time. I've said it, it's out there. Besides we have to meet again to get my DVD back.

Nausea

For the past week or so, I've dealt with nausea and the Hershey squirts. So I was at group Monday and there were were 2 others in the same boat as mine. We talk about everything and nothing at the same time, and we do get updates of things going on in the community.

And another thing, why is everybody wanting to know if I shat or not? Maybe it's their fetish du jour? Okay, I've been constipated for at least 40 years or so. But ever since my tub experience, I've been very regular.

Meals on Wheels

Well this came out of nowhere. Too good to be true though. I got a call from the agency that put me on the list and gave me the news. Apparently I was approved for only 60 days, and my last day will be 1st April.

It was fun while it lasted. They were convenient meals, tasteless though, so I actually salted the meals and some kind of spicy for an extra kick.

Where I did miss cooking, I also got used to the meals. I'm gonna have to go back to cooking, and I then I'll miss the meals. No satisfying me.

Regular Weekend

Nothing really happened this weekend. Went to the pharmacy and the library for DVDs. HP was here yesterday to surf the net.

I called E this weekend, he's a cherished friend from our Hyatt days. We caught up real quick. Then he mentioned that a supervisor at CITI who I found gorgeous based on his nose. Seems that he might be part of my country club. Don't know if it's a rumour or not, but I did tell E to give the guy my phone#, email address, etc.

Not Well

For the past few weeks, I have not been feeling well. Don't know if it's the oak or whatever is in the air. Anyhoo, my tum is out of control. At least I have the marinol for nausea, marinol is made from marijuana.

I'm just afraid to bring this up to the doctor because then he'll run more tests, and I can barely afford the co-pay, but the PM will look at the bills and see if she can take it on.

Nursing Update

Don't know if I blogged is, you know me and AIDSheimers, but Tuesday I was discharged from the visiting nurse. I got used to my nurse and we had a productive rapport between us.

We decided to go somewhere for lunch on Friday. I told her, just fudge some statistics and we'll go somewhere. I don't know if she'll have time between house visits.

SAHA Part 2

Went to SAHA this afternoon to do whatever. I didn't know what to expect or what was the next hurdle. Anyhoo, I was called and sat in her cubicle, chick never introduce herself. She was entering data and told me that's it. What was it?

I've been approved for Section 8 housing!!! My monthly rent is lower now. They pay for the majority of my rent and I'm responsible for the difference. I feel fabulous about it all. The final hurdle will be the inspection which will be within the next 10 days or so.

SAHA

Finally. My background check came through today and they called to set an appointment with them. Think positive thoughts for me. I need all the help I can get. My appointment is tomorrow morning, so I might just come home and update my blog.

Also tomorrow, my nurse's supervisor will be coming to check my progress. I'm kinda tired of this nurse's visits. My wound is healed, I need to terminate these visits. I kinda think they're just sucking money from the insurance company. It's time to let go and put my wings to use.

Frustrating

I'm between losing weight and getting better. I just do not have any jeans that fit me right now. I could find a pair now only to have it not useable later.

Winter garb is sweat pants and they're only for a few months. Then comes spring and fall, and I might need some jeans that fit better.What a dilemma.

A girls worst nightmare. And you know me, I will do something fabulous with my hair. I've been having great days for the past week. If only I can last to the camp out in May. I'm planning on looking gorgeous of course.

Joel will be with spirit as they want to vandalize our homes. It's so sad when we see this, just makes us down.

Ladies who Lunch

Moi et Hush Puppy went out to lunch today. We went to the Mexican Manhattan. He was also gonna check email, but he never got to it because he misplaced his cell phone.

So we had lunch, typical Tex-Mex food. And we decided that he should go home and see if he could find his phone. Our visit was kept short as we prioritized finding his phone.

I just came home and attempted to take a nap. I was sitting there with the phone in my lap waiting his call. Of course he called just as I was nodding off. Turns out his phone was in his back pack all this while.

I told him at least it was a phone and not an award letter with all my information. I don't think I blogged it, but I lost my award letter on the bus when I went to see Dr J, my favourite psychiatrist.

Things could have been worse.

Labs

I went to the clinic to get my lab results last week. Of course everything is always great, my t-cell count went down to 173, down from the previous count, 250. More weight loss.

I also got a script for a water pill and hopefully that will take care of my swollen feet. And the pill is working.

Pammplemousse

OMG! I did something I haven't done in seven years! I'm almost sure that's French for grapefruit. Nothing like a grapefruit to make your day. I used to buy them in those bags and I'd make a production about peeling the fruit, seperating the sections and finally getting to meat of them after pulling the membranes.

As luck would have it, that's the one food diet we cannot have! They apparently cause the HIV meds to take a nose drive. At every luncheon or dinner we have, someone always asks about them. They're part of Texas and you can get them anywhere.

They were there for the picking. They were 3 for a dollar, so I was squeezing them and sniffing them and I just had to take them. I came home, put everything away and went through a ritual from way back. They were so delicious. I was in heaven for the day.

Sunday W/Hush Puppy

HP came over after church to check his mail and surf away. We were hungry and the first thing was where to go. He decided to go vegetarian and sea food. I am a carnivore and must have meat, as well as main entrees. LOL.

I gave him three options, the Mercado, the deli, and Subways. He brought up the notion that the La Margarita and Mi Tierra might be busy from the church crowd.

That gave us Subways. The one down the street is closed on Sunday, but there is the one at Alamo Plaza that is open. We've been to it before and I liked the atmosphere better than the Houston St one.

As luck would have it, they were out of bread! We managed to order I guess with some hidden bread I guess. So we both were able to order. HP gets the tuna with some veggies. I did my usual roasted chicken. We ate half and saved the other half for dinner.

HP was in the moment and started singing clang clang clang Went the Trolly. We were surround by tourists and didn't know what to do with the fagelahs in back. Yes we were in the back and singing and laughing and enjoyment.

So we got home and he played with my pussoir until JL bit him. My baby is bi-polar and goes from sated to whining. He's such a character and I have to laugh at his shenanigans. He is the entertainment when people come over. I give him a saucer of cat nip and off he goes. He eats some cat nip and puts on a show for us. It's hysterical watching him transform from cat to kitten.

Showers

Once that bandage was gone, I was able to enjoy a full shower. When in my malaise, I had to manuever around both wounds. The elbow is starting to blend in with my skin. The back wound finally stopped draining and it's scabbed over and ready to flake away.

Cosas

I was gonna blog somethings, but I've already blogged them. Still waiting on SAHA. I call everyday to see if my background check has come in. The other thing is the neuropathy in my head. Funky feeling. I'm anxious about these and hope they will be resolved not too soon for me.

On the bright side, I'm having a great hair day. Still have meals to last me the weekend. I'm on top again for the time being. So far no problems. And the camp out is about 2 months away.

So I got my voucher and some papers for my manager to fill out. I have been ready since last week. I think I have to make an appointment with someone before we can proceed. I have been calling everyday to check if they have received my background check.

I've been waiting anxiously to get this thing going. I'm hoping to get everything taken care of by April. Cross your fingers.

Ginormous Step

I had to go to group today to pick up my bus pass. I got my stuff in order for L, my latest lab results and another co-pay. Turns out she'd already paid it, she wrote down it down with check # and date it got paid. So now I have to call Santa Rosa and see what my records show.

Anyhoooo, forgetful moi forgot to take my cane. I was in the lobby and made a decision to go without my cane. Like I've written before I can no longer walk in in strides and walk very slowly now. I actually did okay but found out I still need my walker or cane, depends where I'm going.

Speaking of labs, I got my recent labs and everything is okay. My t-cell count dropped to 153, down from 250 last time. My viral load was good so I'm still undetectable which is what my doctor looks at. My kidneys are fine, cholesterol was under control, everything came out great. I'm the healthiest sick person I know. LOL.

More Baby Steps

Friday, the nurse saw that my wound had scabbed over and that we're doing great. We did talk about letting it air dry, so after she left moi decided to take it off. It's still delicate and itchy, but anyone that knows me knows I like adventures, and this was.

OMG, OMG, OMG! HP came by to use my computer, it's the only time we get to see each other. He's curious and wanted to see my wound when I was in the hospital, but it was bandaged. So yesterday I showed him my boo-boo. OMG was all he could say.

I can only feel it because of the location and I think an OMG is what I can say about it also. I was planning on tatooing the area to hide the scar, but there's an indentation there. We'll see how it is in a few months.

4 Days

So there I was stuck in the bath tub. I lost track of everything. Remember, I was in the bathroom and there are no windows for me to make sense of night or day.

After all the drama, I found out that Mess and HP figured there was something going on. My nieces call or email once a week, so they were left out of the loop. HP asked Mess to call 911.

After more drama, it sank in that I was 'out' for four days. Four Days?! That's what I'm worth? HP was dreading that information. And management here called B&D that I was on my way to the hospital. They broke down and cried thinking the worse.

Of course there were messages on my answering machine. It took me a while to get acclimated to what was going on. I still have dizzy spells and I'm very careful with everything. I was blessed to have these amazing people looking after me. I now regularly check in with everyone.

Four days. It could have been been worse. HP was dreading telling me how much time passed. Mess and HP are my heroes and I will never forget that.

Baby Steps

Mess has been an angel taking me to HEB once a week. It's fun shopping with him because there are cute men to cruise at the store.

This week we were short on funds, so we didn't shop. However, I needed a couple of things and I psyched myself up for the bus routine. I have to remember to take little steps rather than my usual strides. I was very careful as I maneuvered my way through the store.

I'm proud of myself for getting my fat ass out today. It was exhausting also as I took a nap when I got home.

The Saga Continues

Seems I lost a week in November. I left rehab on a Monday, I remember that much. I was at home the week of 14 November. HP verified that for me. He did say it was probably the meds. B brought me home with the kids. While I was on hiatus, D and B cleaned my apartment, they're sweet, takes after the wonderful uncle.

I even showed up at Sunday Group, gurl take a picture.

On the 21st I went back to Santa Rosa for a battery of tests. The nurses were all abuzz about me. Apparently I made a lot of fans during my first visit. I don't remember much . I did learn that my meds go down better with a glass of wine though. LOL. Of course all my tests came out great. I'm a healthy sick person.

I'm almost sure here is where the fat lady sings! If I remember anything else, I'll blog it of course.

Little Green Men

Apparently there are more inhabitants of my apartment. I live with little green men or gremlins. They don't do anything bad, but they are a nuisance.

Example: In the late evening I turn on the hood light on while I do other things around the house. When I least expect it, the light is gone from the kitchen. I thought maybe the bulb blew out, but it's been turned off at the switch. Makes one think.

Example: I keep a water bottle in the fridge so I can have a cool sip whenever I feel like it. About two weeks ago, I woke up to find the bottle missing. Today I found the bottle in the oven!

Example: I renewed my driver's license over the net in October. I received the license sometime in November or December. It was on my computer and I checked for it everywhere. I emailed TXDOT saying I never received it hoping they would send me a new one. That was Friday. Yesterday morning the license was laying on top of my desk calendar! The old one that was in my wallet was gone though.

It does make my life interesting. I never know what to expect or when. At least they're friendly.

Section 8

Finally some great news. I have been on the San Antonio Housing Authority, or SAHA list for the past seven years. They put me ahead of other people since I was disabled. Seven years I've waited patiently.

I'm gonna be busy the next few days with management here, but it should be no problem because she's familiar with the jargon and paperwork.

Maybe I'll go buy a bottle of champagne to celebrate...Have a great Friday followed by a great weekend.

Ho Hum Day

Today was another ho hum day. Been there done that. Last week was ho hum with cold weather. Today was a gorgeous ho hum day. I did venture out, went to the library and pharmacy.

I checked out some DVDs I may or may not watch. I just have to commit to watching a movie and try to get into it. The pharmacy is always interesting because I sometimes get medication I've been trying to get for some time. And that happened today.

Note to self: write about gremlins.

Happy 61st birthday to Mark Spitz. I remember watching the Olympics and was just mesmerized by this hot hunk. Kudos to his speedos, my one complaint about the current swimming where they wear these ergonimic thing that looks like not as hot as they can be. Let's write to the Olympic Committee to bring back the speedos. LOL.

He was interviewed somewhere and he still looks yummy. My one complaint, he shaved his mustache! How dare he.

Nurse Visits

The fall left me with two wounds, one on the left elbow and the other on my back down from the left shoulder. The elbow finally healed over and now we're just left with the back wound. My doctor wanted five times a week, but my insurance only approved me for three times a week.

I've gotten used to my nurse visits as has Jean Luc. He has to get in everybody's business. He always says hello and we have to wait for him to give his permission. Everyone likes JL.

Neuropathy

I don't know if I've written about my neuropathy. Apparently there are two kinds of neuropathy, one is pins and needles pain. I have the numbness in my left foot and it's jumped over to my right foot. It's very annoying and frustrating.

Damn if the thing went up to my head. It's a funky feeling to have that in my head. It feels like you're wearing a hat and when you take of the hat, it leaves a numbing feeling where the hat was worn.

I do have an appointment with my primary physician tomorrow and I will run this by him. Cross your fingers, I get lab results tomorrow also.

The Return of Lupe?!

Before my infamous fall in the tub, I was loopy and we don't mean Lupe! Mess, Hush Puppy, and Purple 13 noticed there was something wrong with me. I didn't make sense and spoke gibberish. Of course nobody said anything for whatever reason.

So that takes us to yesterday. Apparently me and HP had a conversation that I don't remember. Just got off the phone with him and he was a bit concerned, alright, very concerned.

I know I have written about my talking to people who aren't there or my mind is racing from one topic to another. HP is the only one who has seen me in action. Pobresito.

They all said I sounded loopy and some said I even look like I was stoned. My apologies to them. I'm fine and everything's fine at home.

Shady Pines or Rehab!?!?!!!

Meanwhile, back at the ranch...Santa Rosa was able to have me admitted into a rehabilitation hospital and I don't remember the first few days. As I started to feel better and confident.

This 'hospital' was a disappointment. They actually have a physical therapy area and I was there to learn how to walk. Okay, I was disappointed with the therapists because they had me doing things I don't do. It wasn't until the final week that I told them I wanted to concentrate on my legs and feet.

Chiflado wanted out of Shady Pines asap. The social worker told me that my stay was on only to a certain day and he wanted to know if I wanted to file paperwork for another two weeks.

The nurses station was next to my room and they were loud and freely used colorful language. They never even came to change my dressing until I asked. The cafeteria food was horrible. I'm hoping to get a survey so I can vent myself out.

An Outing

We're in the midst of very cold weather with a possibility of snow. Of course this will freak out the locals. Okay, I'm a local but I spent five years in Michigan and honey, that's snow.

Mess rang me up and we were off to HEB. But first we had to get his inspection sticker. That was no brainer, somebody talked about to Mess where we could go.

Then we went to Luby's for lunch. That way he can have his fish and I can get some meat. Don't go there.

Then we went to the Olmos HEB. I was disappointed because there were no hot men out today. I did get some things that were not on my shopping list.
Of course as soon as I got home and starting putting things away, I remembered other stuff to get.

Now that I'm on Meals on Wheels I don't have to buy that much groceries. I did get my whimsical sangria. Whimsical is cheap booze according to Gucci B. And I'm always in a whimsical mood, I'm a meat and potatoes kinda guy.
