'Bout Last Night...

I did something I hadn't done since my sister passed away, I cried myself to sleep. I couldn't help it. I was just surfing the net, minding my own business. I don't know what triggered it, but the tears just started flowing.

Granted I have something to look forward to next week, and I've always considered myself a strong person, but it's still there. I will walk to the hospital and check myself in and they will take a piece of my colon as HP so calmly put it. Well that's a whole different subject, since you put it that way, I can relax some!

I didn't even enjoy playing with my dolls. My nightly routine is shower and then play on the net until HP calls. Part of the routine is taking 11 pills which I call dolls, as in Valley of The Dolls, and I start popping pill after pill in the same order every night. For added panache I have a glass of wine to really enjoy the moment.

Last night just didn't do it. It was a Kleenex night and the only good thing I can say about it was I had no difficulty falling asleep. Even Jean Luc knew something was amiss, he kept his distance and didn't make a sound. That cat is one smart cat.

On the bright side, I got my DNR signed. Tick, tock, tick, tock...

Anxious...

Scared. Depressed. Angry even. My surgery looms in my future and there's nothing I can do but think about it. HP says I shouldn't worry about it because they scheduled it so far ahead whereas if it were serious they would have scheduled it asap.

I just know I'm going stir crazy and can't seem to focus on anything right now. I just want that tumor out and then I have to wait a week for a follow up and see what the doc says.

And then I've been having tummy problems like never before. It's difficult to find anything that agrees with me. Most nights I just have some crackers and a banana. And I've been guzzling Maalox like water it's that bad. I wonder if it's stress related.

Wacky Week

Wow! This has been an interesting week for the Posse. HP wasn't feeling well so he went to the doctor. Turns out his glucose level was over 400! As a diabetic he should know better. He thought it was something worse.

We still don't know the story on Mess but his foot was in his mouth again and it got infected. He was in Urgent Care and is bedridden and has a friend over daily and his sister in the evening looking out after him.

And me, I'm only depressed. Anxious even. I have this surgery looming in my future. I wish they wouldn't have scheduled it so far ahead. I just want to get it over and done with and get some results back asap.

But we're big boys and we'll get through whatever comes our way.

Chiflado Update

One good thing about my therapist is she gets things done. She listens. I told her about my DNR problem and she said she could get Dr M to counter-sign the form. So imagine my surprise when our nutritionist showed up with an envelope for me at dinner! Now I can take that in to my case manager and get it notarized and copied and whatever.

I already forgot what the topic was about. I just know the presenter is a vivacious man full of energy. Dinner was grilled chicken breast with grilled veggies, rice and beans. Not your typical Mexican restaurant fare but something I'm sure our fabulous nutritionist had input in.

Mental Health Day

Went to see my therapist today after a few months absence. She gets booked very quickly. I'm already booked for June and July.

She got an earful. So much has happened since I've seen her. Ya'll know so I won't go into details. She did say it's understandable to be depressed after a surgery only to face another. So I guess it's normal for me to feel the way I'm feeling, the anxiety, maybe that's what's contributing to my nausea.

She wasn't surprised that I walked to the hospital for my gall bladder surgery and will more than likely walk back for this surgery. I already have a ride lined up. I just hope they start on time this time around.

I'm off to dinner at La Margarita sponsored by Centromed this afternoon.

Scared

It's getting a bit scary for me on so many levels. My AIDSheimers is getting worst. I have to write down where I'm going and what I'm gonna do. Coming home is easy because it's my center point. If I didn't have to go out I'd be quite satisfied, but I'm still trying to be as independent as possible.

My tremors have gotten worst also. I find other parts of my body shaking along with my hands, arms, and lips. Last night at a pot luck I could barely eat I was shaking so bad. And then I got a ride to Walgreens and I felt like I was gonna pass out. I was walking like I was drunk.

This of course is not healthy for me. It's really bringing me down. I find myself crying for no reason, but the reasons are many. The plus side is I get to see my analyst tomorrow and she's good at calming the savage beast.

I'm off to the store. I don't need a reminder because I have my recycle bags and there's only one reason for them. Duh. Wish me luck.

It's kinda weird not having my posse around. They're up at the camp out having a blast without me. Well that's what I get for feeling under the weather.

On the plus side I caught up with my DVDs. Finally saw 'Avatar.' Can we say 'Dances With Wolves' meets 'Pocahontas?' At least that's what it felt like to me. A sci-fi version of a combination of these two films. And I'm not a Cameron fan but I actually enjoyed this one.

Now I have a few weeks of stress about the tumor. They will remove it and do a biopsy and check out the status of my bouncing baby tumor. I wonder if I should name it?

Out and About

Boy I'm one tired puppy. Went to my doctor's visit and he signed my DNR but it wasn't until later that I noticed he signed it in the wrong place! So I gotta go through that again. I lost 5 more pounds and we put me on a medication to help me with my latest problem that will not be blogged!

Then I went out for a late breakfast, came home, took meds, and passed out. I took a two hour nap of all things. I haven't been sleeping well lately and I'm stressed because of this surgery.

Then I went to the store to get more cans of soup since that's gonna be my diet for a couple of days before and after surgery. And honey, I'm ready for another nap. I just need to lie down.

I woke up early yet again. The stress is starting to get to me. I'm trying not to think about it but it's looming in my future. I have a doctor's appointment that means another surgical procedure. Maybe that's what's adding to my AIDSheimer's also.

I realized last night that my rent is due! I wrote out the check and will go by the office on the way to the store and I wrote 'Rent' on my calendar for the rest of the year. This is really starting to worry me. Something to bring up at my next session.

Went by my case manager's and finished my paperwork. Plus I got homework on top of that. I got some forms that need witnesses' signatures, so I can do that Sunday. And I have a DNR that needs my physician's signature and I just happen to see him Friday.

I've given up on American Idol. You can see the finale coming a mile away. She should have at least been in the bottom three with her poor performance. But what do I know, I believe in Smurfs!

Dressing Update

Well I guess that's that. It fell off in the middle of the night and there was no leakage. I'll still Neosporin it but for all intentions, it's healed.

I also woke up early for some unknown reason. Thank gawd I have a DVD to watch. If anybody has Netflix, I recommend a short lived series called The Middleman, the humour is just dry enough for my taste.

Nada

Nothing much going on. I'm starting to feel a bit blue for some reason and I've been doing so well lately.

I haven't been feeling well lately either. I wake up, have some de-calf and toast followed by a cat nap. There's always a lunch because of the HIV meds and sho nuff there will be another cat nap sometime.

I did get out yesterday. I went to an agency to get a monthly bus pass for May. It got kind of scary because I forgot which stop to get off at and the same thing happened on my return trip. When I remember my stops I just chant them over and over in my head so I won't forget to get off. Please don't tell me it's Alzheimer's I have to add to my list. B says it's just age. But it's happening more and more frequently.

Taking Care of Business

Went to a local AIDS agency to talk to my case manager. I have to start updating some paperwork. I go back Tuesday to finish. One thing about having AIDS is there is a lot of paperwork and multiply it for each agency I visit.

I'm still cold for some reason. Wonder if it's age, AIDS, or something else. I keep the thermostat @ 85 degrees and I'm under a blanket when I watch a DVD or my flannel robe when I'm at the computer. It's also getting frustrating.

Just like my tremors. The medications aren't working obviously. And I don't even know what it's called. The doctor did mention brain surgery and I'm gonna start asking friends or feel free to comment here, that's what a blog is for!

Chiflado Update

It's coming along fine. The dressing is drier now so I might just be adventurous and go a day without it. I've done a good job taking care of myself.

Today was a runaround day. I went to the pharmacy and library, for some reason I always do those two together. Then I went to the store to get some things for the weekend and that's it. Had lunch, took my meds, and a much deserved cat nap.

One of the clinics is having an informational dinner with a guest speaker, so I don't have to worry about that chore.

Well now that the sex appeal has left the show, let's focus on the talent. Casey is quite talented and I would love to see him go all the way to the finale against Lee DeWyze, but that's just one brain dead opinion because we all know the judges have already chosen the winner.

Support Group

Don't know why it slipped my mind about my Monday night support group. It's a totally different dynamic than the Sunday one. It has a core group of about six regulars. We all know a lot about each other because we don't hold back anything.

We have monthly pot lucks and it seems like weekly chips and dips. We mostly yak about anything but AIDS which in a way is nice because we get tired of hearing all of that.

Our moderator is great. She's like a sister rather than a manager. She's got a great sense of humour and always has an ear to listen to our problems.

Blah Sunday

Today was such a blah day. I did catch up on Brothers & Sisters, really makes my family seem normal; and the finale to Project Runway. In a rarity, they actually voted for a worthy individual. It's rare that they do it, but I'm glad Seth Aaron won.

Don't know why I've been so cold lately. I keep the thermostat at 90 and I'm in my flannel robe. Going out was okay because I could feel the heat from the street yet the coolness from the shadows, so honey, I waited for the bus in the sun by myself.

Schlepped to group. The usual suspects showed up. Hush Puppy made this scrumptious shrimp eggplant casserole that was to die for. Silver Daddy made this rocking salad. Auntie Phylis made some melt in your mouth brownies. D made a fruit salad and Ringo took some taters and fruit salad from Luby's. We were quite sated.

Dressing Update

My dressing's coming along fine. When I first went to the doctor's office, it was red and the thing was oozing red as she dressed the wound and taught me how to change it.

It's slowly been improving. It's not red anymore! It went through a yellow stage and now it's a clear stage. I think it's a matter of days now.

I stop to think about my ex and how squeamish he would get about doing such a thing. He would not have been a good support system, hell I'd be on my own if I were still in Michigan. But I'm not. I'm home with a great support system and great medical care. Now if I can only get a decent amount of food stamps I'd be very grateful.

Glucerna

The glucerna is for me to take in lieu of a meal. There are times when I'm just not hungry but I still have to take my meds with food. What I'm doing is taking a glucerna for lunch and then having a light dinner with my meds.

Glucerna is like a protein shake designed especially for diabetics and no I do not have diabetes. It doesn't taste bad, looks like the whole batch is vanilla which I'm cool with. And the topper is it's only 220 calories! So Chiflado recommends this product.

Battle of Flowers

So there's a parade going on through downtown. That means that Chiflado is homebound. I don't like crowds and I don't have to go anywhere. I did all my errands during the week in preparation for this day.

I have some DVDs and I'm gonna be a cat today. Speaking of cats, JL is out of his lethargic mood all of a sudden. He would lie down in his special lying down places and cat nap and yawn. This morning he's been a bundle of energy running back and forth and jumping up and down. It's like he's on industrial cat nip.

I'm glad. I was starting to worry about him. He was in his mood for about two weeks. It's nice to have my roommate back.

Changing my Dressing

Gross Toasties! Okay, my suture is definitely still draining and the thing feels nasty to the touch. But touch it I did when I took a shower today. I was very careful patting myself dry for obvious reasons.

I took a cotton swab as instructed, dipped it in hydrogen peroxide and dabbed the infected area before stuffing it with a gauze strip. And then I taped another gauze strip over that. Damn I'm good. Very proud of myself.

That noise you hear is Chiflado patting himself on his special back.

Nutritionist

I went to the nutritionist like a good little boy. I had to see what I can and cannot eat and how to adjust my diet. Basically I'm doing everything right. I did wind up with a tote bag full of glucerna though. Don't know how I'm gonna like those.

My weight loss continues. I've only lost 19.5 lbs. since December and sometimes it feels like more and sometimes it feels like less. The important part is there is a weight loss occurring. Something tells me there will be more after the colorectal surgery whenever they schedule that.

Why Bother to Watch?

They finally kicked out Tim Urban off American Idol tonight. But it's the way they did it that was downright dirty. The camera focused on him a lot throughout the night. And when he got the boot, they didn't even allow him to sing. They're supposed to sing down to the top five idols. Okay I know he wasn't the greatest singer out there besides the judges have already decided on their winner and don't be surprised when she wins.

And what's with the length of the show? Was it really necessary? And then we had to sit through the longest sessions of commercials. And the 'talent' they had was mediocre at best. I understand the idea behind a telethon but this was plain bad. I was surfing the net and blogging during the boring parts anyway.

Pharmacy

Chiflado had a busy morning. I usually combine the pharmacy with a library visit. I picked up 7 medications that had no co-pay, the insurance covers most of it. I came home and added them up just to give you a guestimate of what we go through. My grand total for these 7 meds came out to a whopping $3294.51! There was one med that is co-paid by a local agency. Remember we must take advantage of all the resources available to us.

Chiflado has had an exhausting day already. I need to make some more phone calls and take a cat nap and update my blogs. And thanks to ya'll that hit the schnozz blog. Keep those comments coming. And if you can think of any hot schnozzed men, let me know, I have quite a collection of photos to keep me occupied.

Dressing

I'd much prefer cornbread dressing to this let me tell you. Apparently I'm still draining from the one incision. She gave me a quick lesson on changing a dressing and gave me some supplies and sent me off on my merry way.

I can do it. I'm strong.

My prayers have been answered, and honey, I don't pray much let me tell you. But when they had this cow in Standing with the Stars, it just got to me. And the way she treated her professional dancer was uncalled for. No wonder Jon divorced her, lucky guy.

Anyway ding dong the witch is gone. Just remember what Chiflado wants Chiflado gets. Now on to American Idol. I just did my 2-hour block of voting and it ain't Whiner Woman #2. And the judges have already deemed the Whiner the Winner.

Sutures finally out

Those were the longest 11 days in my life. There were times when JL wanted to pull them out. Of course I'm all bruised up where they were and as luck would have it one of them is infected.

My two options were they could have a nurse come over every day and change the dressing. My house is a mess and I'm from the school of I don't want to be a bother or a burden. So I chose option 2, the office is only two blocks away and it gets me out of the house.

If that weren't bad enough, I just called the clinic about my colorectal referral and they weren't even aware of it! I finally talked to someone in referrals and she was able to locate a copy of my order so now I'm waiting on a call.

Chiflado likes to be on top of things.

Whiner Woman #2

Wah, wah, wah...It takes a lot of confidence to be an American Idol and this chick doesn't have it. Yes she's a front runner and yes the judges have deemed her the winner. And she doesn't have the Idol look, even a mentor said she should do something about her dreadlocks.

But she wanted to quit the show a few weeks ago until Gaycrest stepped in telling her she was gonna win and can build her mom a house. Of all the nerve!

Do not vote for her. This is not fair. Continue to vote for Tim Urban. I say kick her out and have a great battle royale between Lee DeWyze and Casey James, those two are equally talented and seem more mature to handle the Idol crown. And they fit the Idol mold.

She was worse this week than last if that's humanly possible. I have concluded that Hindus are voting for her because the cow is sacred to them.

Please vote her off already. I hate seeing train wrecks and to put Tony Dovolani through another week would be sheer hell.

What is this sick cow still doing 'dancing' on the show? And who votes for her? Does she have her brat army hit redial to keep force us to laugh at her another week? Or is it the brain dead housewives who are just voting her through another week of payment? My heart goes out to Jon and Tony Dovalani, her professional dancer, there's just no chemistry between them two.

The Blahs

I've had them pretty bad today. I want these sutures out already. They just make me feel tender all over and even walking is affected.

Today my alarm clock went off at 7 a.m. and again he had food and water but he just wanted attention. I had some decalf and finished watching a DVD then took a nap. I think I'm turning into a cat.

I tolerated a sandwich for lunch. Lately everything tastes weird and I'm sure I'll get answers when I go Tuesday to get my sutures removed. Wonder how many meds I'll wind up on this time.

Even though my heart wasn't in it, I managed to schlep to group. It's my one escape I can afford! I was half there and half in cat world. I hope nobody noticed I wasn't my ususal self.

Saturday

I woke up at 6 a.m. today. Actually, my roommate woke me up. He was sitting on my chest playing with my beard. Wake up and entertain me he was saying. What choice did I have?

I'm gonna go on record here and call it that the judges have decided Crystal Bowersox as the winner of American Idol especially in light of yesterday's events. Turns out Bowersox wanted to bow out a few weeks ago but Gaycrest flashed his saviour smile and talked her into staying. I said earlier they already had a winner chosen. This would be the biggest upset since the Ruben fiasco.

Friday

It's Friday and there's nothing much going on so I figured I'd catch up on some laundry. I let my towels get out of control so I'm making do with them.

If it doesn't rain, I'll schlep to HEB since I need a few supplies, but there is a 90% chance of rain today so I'll play it by ear. Nothing I can live without but it would be nice to have.

My suture removal has been rescheduled for Tuesday, did I already blog that? Still tender, almost on the verge of an infection but we'll see Tuesday. I do know the sutured areas are turning colour. And I still have some lortabs which are a gawdsend. They knock me out and make me forget I had surgery.

Updates

Well if anyone else is following my train wrecks, ya'll know that both Evan and Tim made it to next week. And how glad was I to see Katey leave, although I still think Mike should have gone. And I will have photos to encourage ya'll to vote.

Just got a call from my surgeon's office and my suture removal has been rescheduled to next Tuesday. So keep Chiflado in your prayers just a little bit longer. Still waiting on the colorectal phone call, I have the referral but just need to know which doc to go see.

Recuperative mode

Still tender and walking kinda funny. Yesterday I spent the day in bed with lortabs and Mad Med Season 3. I love that train wreck.

Today I have lunch at La Margarita with my peeps but I also want to schlep over to the pharmacy and library and pick up some more DVDs to keep me out of trouble.

Americal Idol's on tonight and I'm still asking for my fans to keep voting for hottie Tim. I promised I'd post this great campaign worthy photo of the young lad. Adam Lambert is guest mentor (?) and he better keep his hands of my boo if he knows what's best for him. My prediction is that they will send a guy home anyway to even out the field.

Chiflado Update

Still on the mend. Still tender in the abdomen area. I will have a doctor's appointment to get the sutures out sometime this week.

Today I have a follow-up with my primary care physician regarding this and setting up lab work in three months. He also did call me to set up a referral for a colorectoral specialist due to the colonoscopy. And here I thought it was gonna be the year of Chiflado.

Think happy thoughts and send prayers my way please. Every little bit helps.

Chiflado Update

So far so good. I'm just a little tender in the abdomen area. I really have had no need for the pain killers, but I'm taking them anyway.

I'm gonna take it easier than usual. Got some DVDs from the library to keep me busy and I feel a nap coming on also.

Gall Bladder

Well, it came out today. It can be said that Chiflado has no gall which means we must come up with a new term for the things Chiflado says and does.

I was there on time and ready for my surgery. As luck would have it, my surgeon was running late. They didn't wheel me in until around noon and my ride was scheduled to pick me up at 1 p.m. Well that didn't work out and then I was ready to be released at 3,30 which is when B picks up the kids at school.

But it all worked out in the end. I'm home, even went to the pharmacy to get pain medication which I promise to take at bedtime. Thanks to all for your prayers and concern.

I would like to thank any of you readers that actually take time to vote for my babes. Both Evan and Tim get another week to prove their talent.

Is it me or should Mike have been kicked off Americal Idol last night. I cannot believe the judges used the save on him. When he sang for his save, he sang a different song than the one that put him in the bottom to begin with. I don't think this is fair. But that's just one fan's opinion.

I personally think he got the sympathy vote which means he'll be saved next week where he'll get the pity vote. I told you this was a train wreck to watch.

Gall Bladder

I went to a surgeon yesterday referred by my Primary Care Physician. Turns out my gall bladder is not functioning properly and that may be the cause of my bleeding and vomiting.

So it must come out. I'm waiting to hear from the office for the surgery date. We're shooting for this week if at all possible. So, keep Chiflado in your prayers.

Back by popular demand, alright, I've got the hots for him. American Idol is doing the Lennon/McCartney songs for tonight and we just have to keep Tim in, even though he's not a great singer.

As a side note, Chiflado doesn't think much of the 'talent' they have this year. There are some contestants with obvious attitude problems and the judges seem to have decided on a winner already.

Also, was it just moi that noticed that Didi kinda knew she was going home last week? Didja notice that Gaycrest asked her what song she was gonna sing whereas in the past they usually sing the song that got them in the bottom three. The band was ready to play Rihanna for Didi even though she bombed with a different song the night before.

Just an observation.

They changed the date on me! I got the information at the beginning of the year and now it's been moved a week back! So that's 7 more days of waiting!

Clash of the Titans

Okay, ya'll know Chiflado likes anything Greek, so I was excited they were remaking the 1981 film. Chiflado was let down on so many levels.

First of all, it is not a remake of the previous film. It does use a lot of the same characters and plot devices.

Secondly, it is a very loose version of the story of Perseus. Characters were introduced that were not in the story, but obviously here to keep the plot moving along.

Thirdly, it was just plain bad. The only thing that made this worth watching is Sam Worthington as Perseus. They should have shown more than his hot hairy legs.

I would have to say watch the original instead or read Edith Hamilton's Greek Mythology for the real story. I would only recommend this for Worthington.

Jean Luc Update

JL's been quite the high maintenance baby lately. He craves a lot of attention which he gets of course. He's taken to lying on my lap when I watch a DVD.

He loves to be scratched and he loves his rough-housing with me. He likes to suckle on my shirt or shorts which isn't a bother but then he starts kneading the area and them claws are sharp. But I look forward to our intimate moments.

When I'm on the computer he will come over and gets very vocal until he gets some attention. Many a time I'm on the net and I feel his cold nose on my mouse hand and he must be appeased.

But he's my baby and I love him and HP thinks he has a kitty crush on me. It is nice to feel loved and needed. So much better than a boyfriend! At least JL won't cheat on me or desert me in times of need.

Neurologist

I went to the neurologist today. The good news is he was happy with the weight loss and my CD-4 count.

The bad news is that the tremors, tingling, and neuropathy are still there and people have noticed it it's so obvious. So I wound up with two new scripts that should help.
